Chapter 190
“Time will prove everything. Just you wait and see.” As the last syllable fell, the bathroom door closed with a
clatter.
That closed door, along with the sound of running water from inside, made me–usually the epitome of cool composure–suddenly feel unsettled.
Her words kept repeating in my mind:
“But I really like Thea, and I like you too, Alpha Blackwood. That’s the only reason I spoke up.”
After a while, I muttered to myself, “She likes me?”
*She feels familiar, *Orion said, his voice low and uncertain. *I don’t know why, but there’s something about her…*
“Don’t be stupid,” I snapped back at him. “Don’t let a pretty face get to you.She should know better than anyone that if not for Thea Blackwood, I wouldn’t be here at all.”
“Yet she could say such things without blushing or hesitation. It was too absurd and strange.”
“So no matter how sincere she sounded, I didn’t believe a single punctuation mark of it.”
I hadn’t forgotten what she’d cried out in her dream last night.
“Don’t abandon me…”
“Don’t abandon our child…”
She had someone unforgettable in her heart, and quite possibly had even borne his child. Now she was pretending to have feelings for me, using me as a replacement.
Such a casual woman, no matter how beautiful, turned my stomach.
Last night I’d been bewitched when I carried her back to my room and lay beside her on the same bed. I would never make that mistake again.
Sarah’s POV
When I finished freshening up and came out of the bathroom, Alexander was already dressed impeccably, seated at the dining table preparing to eat. Beside him stood a butler in a tailcoat who had appeared from

nowhere, attending to his needs.
Alexander accepted a newspaper from the butler, eating breakfast while reading, his features cold and
composed.

After all these years, his habits hadn’t changed. He still liked to read financial papers or stay informed about world affairs while eating his morning meal.
The long table was covered with a blue damask tablecloth, adorned with silver candelabras that looked straight
out of a medieval castle. The variety of Western breakfast foods made my head spin with options.
“Breakfast looks abundant. Is there any for me?” I asked with a smile as I approached.
“Of course, Ms. Winters,” the butler pulled out a chair for me. “Please, be seated.”
Alexander didn’t even look up, much less speak to me.
Undeterred, I sat down thick–skinned and happily drank milk while enjoying the breakfast spread.
“Would Ms. Winters like a newspaper?” the butler inquired.
“No, no,” I declined, my mouth full of muffin.
Unlike Alexander, I didn’t have such habits.
When eating, one should focus on eating–it’s better for digestion.
The butler didn’t ask anything else, and the room suddenly grew quiet, with only the occasional sound of waves
and the soft rustle of turning newspaper pages.
I didn’t much care for this atmosphere and tried to start a conversation to build rapport with Alexander. “Alpha
Alexander, what are your plans for today…”
“No talking while eating,” came his cold reply.
His frigid words made me choke slightly. “Uh…”
Trying to have a proper conversation with him was truly difficult.
