Chapter 79
Then, as quickly as the storm had appeared, it vanished. Alpha Foster’s expression changed, horror replacing rage as he stared at his own hand. He fell to his knees before me, reaching for my hands.
“Summer, I’m sorry,” he whispered, voice breaking. “I didn’t mean to–I would never hurt you. You know that, don’t you? You just… you make me crazy sometimes. When you talk about him…”
I stared down at him, frozen in disbelief. This man wasn’t just cruel–he was completely unhinged. The realization sent ice through my veins. Alpha Foster had always been calculating, manipulative, but this erratic behavior was something new and infinitely more dangerous.
I said nothing, afraid any word might trigger another explosion. Alpha Foster took my silence as forgiveness, rising slowly to his feet and gently touching my reddened cheek.
“Summer,” he cajoled, his voice dropping to the seductive tone that had once made my heart race. Now it only made my stomach churn. “Think of Felix. He needs his mother. His father. He needs us together.”
The mention of Felix doused my anger with cold reality. I needed to play along–for now.
“What do you want from me?” I asked tiredly.
Alpha Foster’s smile widened as he stepped closer. “Just be my Luna again. My wife. My mate.” His fingers traced a line down my arm. “Remember how good we were together? How I could make you feel?”
I remained stiff under his touch, fighting the urge to recoil. “And if I do this, you’ll let me see Felix?”
“Of course,” he promised, his lips now dangerously close to my neck. “We’ll be a family again. The three of
us.”
His hand slid around my waist, pulling me against him. The familiar scent of his cologne–once comforting, now nauseating–enveloped me as his lips brushed against my skin.
“I’ve missed you,” he murmured, his other hand threading through my damp hair. “No one else compares
to you, Summer.”
I closed my eyes, trying to disconnect my mind from my body as his mouth moved to my jaw, then toward my lips. But when his tongue pressed against my closed mouth, demanding entry, something in
me snapped.
My stomach heaved violently, and before I could stop it, I was vomiting–all over his expensive shirt and perfectly pressed pants.
Alpha Foster leaped back with a disgusted cry, looking down at the mess in horror. “What the hell?!”
“I’m sorry,” I gasped, not sorry at all, wiping my mouth with the back of my hand. “I–I don’t feel well.”
His handsome face twisted with fury, “You did that deliberately!”
