Bai Feng had no idea how it happened. But all the supplies that were stored in the base’s warehouse were stolen; it was as if they were magicked away. But the thing was that no one saw anyone entering the warehouse. Even the guards were stupefied, as they didn’t understand who attacked them.
Bai Meiyue was well aware of what was going on in Bai Feng’s head. She suppressed the twitch of her lips and solemnly said, "No. We are also trying to establish a base for ourselves. We don’t have enough time to go out and hunt for supplies. As we left in a hurry, we too left a lot of things behind and need to rearrange everything."
She tapped her fingers and then stated, "But I have a lot of meat from mutated animals. If you want, then we can discuss that." She didn’t want to bring up the matter of mutated meat, but she really had too much mutated meat. Even her space was stuffed with it because the freezer didn’t have enough space to store it.
Though her space was not jammed shut, the smell of meat was getting over things, and it was getting a bit hard to deal with the fishy smell that stuck to her clothes and whatnot. She might as well sell the meat to Bai Feng and earn something out of it.
The soldier who followed Bai Feng, however, frowned. He looked at Bai Meiyue and turned to look at Bai Feng. He said to him, "But sir, we cannot eat mutated meat. A few of the survivors did try to eat the meat of the fish that were caught in the ponds that were filled with toxic water, and died due to poisoning. It’s nothing less than taking a risk that can make us lose our lives."
Bai Feng frowned and turned to look at Bai Meiyue, who simply shrugged. "Doctor Cui created a medicine that can deal with the poison. If you don’t trust me, then it’s fine; anyway, the mutated meat is the only thing that I have at the moment. Or you can go to the penthouse where I lived and see if there is anything left." Of course, nothing was left behind, as she had cleaned every corner and nook, but Bai Meiyue had no qualms about lying.
Bai Feng pursed his lips. He raised his head and glanced at the shelter where the mutated animals were dozing off after eating their feed. He knew that Bai Meiyue was a lot of things, but she would never lie about things when it came to the lives of others, which meant that she was speaking the truth.
"Fine."
"Leader!" the soldier protested, but Bai Feng raised his head and snapped, "Shut up, if you have any other offer, then you might as well tell me. Do you?"
When she saw the expression of the soldier turning livid, she smiled in satisfaction. Well, it seemed like she had done a good job in passing down her message.
"Don’t worry; I will not raise a mess for no reason," Bai Feng agreed with Bai Meiyue.
After the haggling was done, she waved her hand and asked the men under Xiao Wu to bring the processed meat that they had collected in the freezer and was quite happy when she saw Bai Feng buying more than a hundred kilos of meat. And her smile widened when she saw the bag of crystal nuclei.
Of course, as the price was way too high, she asked one of the survivors to come and count the crystal nuclei. This man had awakened rather useless skills. He was quite sharp when it came to doing research and solving problems, but he was not skilled in defending against the zombies. However, at the moment when Bai Meiyue saw him counting the crystal nuclei without losing his breath, she decided to make the man the accountant of the base.
