Chapter 1383: Cold Night

Tonight, the air in the willess world was unusually cold.

As the people of the center parts wandered through the streets, they felt an immense chill run through them.

Most stopped, glancing around and wondering what caused such an ominous feeling. While others, especially warriors who were used to such things, simply kept on walking.

It was the chill of battle.

Still, their minds ran wild. A chill of such significance could only be caused by a battle of equal measure. Something was afoot.

But while whispers spread and people wondered, in an unsuspecting alleyway, where the chill originated from, the tension had reached an unbearable extent.

A purple light flooded the alleyway. An oppressive weight slammed against the men and women of the Will Guard surrounding the trio.

Many felt the urge to bow. To submit. Fear-filled eyes stared at the source. A woman whose beauty and radiance eclipsed anything many of them had ever seen before.

The warriors of the Will Guard clutched a round device the Sentinels had given them earlier in their palms tightly, and felt the oppressive weight of the pressure ease on them.

However, it did nothing to dampen the fear in their eyes. Though part of the Will Guard, they were powerful baron-ranked gods of strong worlds. For a single woman to make them feel fear was ludicrous.

Hands and legs shaking, they turned towards the ones who brought them here. The Sentinels. š“Æš™§š™šš’†š™¬š™šš’ƒš™£š™¤š’—š“®š“µ.š™˜š™¤š™¢

Of all of them, only they stood with a calmness that belied the oppressive weight in the air. Their piercing, emotionless gaze shone through their masks, analyzing the anomaly in front of them.

But their focus was soon pulled back to the source of the light. Her radiance only kept on rising, like a star whose light was immeasurable.

They clutched their devices tighter as her gaze suddenly swept over them. A shudder ran through their bodies. It was as though their entire existence had been probed. Her stare felt intrusive, violating.

Still, they were Will Guards. The righteous of the middle planes. A sinner stood before them, and they would be damned if they allowed their fears to get in the way of justice.

"O-one last chance!" one of the Will Guards said, struggling to keep his tone steady.

"Surrender now or—"

His words froze in his throat as the anomaly finally moved. It wasn’t an abrupt movement. It was simple, calm. She had only raised her right foot.

But somehow, it made the members of the Will Guards take a large gulp. Many took an instinctive half step back.

They whispered to each other, wondering who would go down there to apprehend the anomaly. But their eyes never left her.

Then, her leg slowly dropped and hit the ground.

For a moment, they wondered what had happened. Why had she raised her leg only to gently drop it?

The sight of sudden movement caught their attention. Their heads snapped to the side to see the Sentinels suddenly shooting backwards.

Eyes widened and minds spun. When it occurred to the others to act first and think later, it was already too late.

It began as a quake. Like a ripple suddenly spread across the ground and through the building beneath them.

Widened eyes flickered downward. Then the force hit.

A heavy storm blasted out from the anomaly, slamming against the buildings.

She turned towards her lance. Its glow was dwindling. But her eyes only flickered once.

’Change of plans.’

The light of the lance suddenly began to rise before detonating in an explosion that sent both Anorah and the Sentinel hurtling backwards.

Anorah spun midair, her gaze snapping towards the hurtling Sentinel. She was about to move when instinct screamed at her.

She glanced around the thick haze and saw a fist thundering towards her.

’The other Sentinel.’

With a focus, Solvath’s power encased her hand like a gauntlet. She spun, and punched back towards the fist.

But before both fists could meet, Anorah’s eyes flickered, and her weight spiked, pulling her body downwards.

The sudden change lowered her fist, causing it to miss the Sentinel’s. Before the Sentinel could realize what had just occurred, Anorah blasted forward.

Her fist impacted the Sentinel’s midsection like a bomb, careening his body to the front. She caught sight of his bloodshot eyes before he was sent shooting back.

Releasing a breath, Anorah glanced around the thick haze of dust and light that had engulfed the area. She found One and Lazio almost immediately. They both stared at her with awe.

’We’re escaping.’

They were snapped out of their reverie, and each gave a firm nod. A purple glow wrapped around them, lifting them off the ground. And they were off the next moment, the intense night wind whipping at them.
