Chapter 1422: Request

After examining the tree for many more moments, they soon left the area and returned back to the hill. There, Whisker had suddenly asked about the events at Asterra.

Magnus and Avalon, who had been searching for Atticus, had joined them just as he started narrating the events. Oberon and Jenera joined later.

As expected, the mood had been tense. Though he hadn’t deemed some parts worth mentioning, the occurrence of a new enemy was enough to warrant the tense moment.

The threat of the Sentinels had just been confirmed, and a new impossible enemy had been added to the already impossible list.

"So..." Avalon broke the tense silence, "the Will Guard are hunting people with this... fragment. And you’re one of them?"

Atticus nodded.

Avalon released a breath, then glanced around the silent group.

"Then they’re our enemies."

Magnus was the first to react. Lightning crackled around his figure as he nodded solemnly. An enemy of Atticus was an enemy of his, no matter who was in the wrong.

The others began to show their support after. Oberon and Jenera held arms and nodded as one. Whisker only shrugged like it was a no-brainer, and Ozeroth didn’t even bother, looking bored.

"Thank you all." Atticus said.

"Without you, none of us will be here, Supreme Ruler." Oberon smiled at Atticus, then turned to his wife. "And I wouldn’t have found love. Thank you."

Atticus smiled, then nodded.

After that, Oberon had asked more about the Sentinels, their powers, weaknesses, and how best to defeat them.

Atticus answered as best as he could, and as the meeting concluded, they reached a unified consensus on their next course of action: more power.

With the threat of the Sentinels and other major factions, it was necessary for Eldoralth as a world to rise in power, and also its inhabitants.

"Now that you’re back, we’ll focus on training, Supreme Ruler." Oberon said.

As the meeting separated, Atticus made his way back to the party on the hill, where he was approached by another group just as he was about to enter the mansion.

"Miss us?" 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶

Atticus turned and was a bit taken aback by the figures before him. It was the three remaining Apexes, Lirae, Marae, and Ae’ark. Of course, Lirae had been the one to speak.

"Hey."

"Hmm." Lirae shook her head. "What should we do, guys? He doesn’t sound happy to see us."

"Atticus." Marae looked at Atticus with twinkling eyes. Ae’ark gave him a tense nod.

’How should I deal with them?’

After the day he forced them to sign a mana contract, Atticus had assumed whatever relationship they had turned sour.

He had always avoided awkward situations like this and so, had stayed away from them.

"...It’s been a long night." He finally spoke.

"Hmm, of course. Of course." Lirae said, "anyways, notice anything different?"

Atticus scrutinized the trio.

’They’re about to enter the Paragon rank.’

They were at the peak of Grandmaster. A simple nudge, and they’d enter the Paragon rank.

Lirae smiled, like she could read Atticus’ mind.

"So, you mind giving us a little nudge with your godly powers, your all powerful eminence?"

’So that’s why they approached me.’

He had felt their desire earlier; they wanted something, he just hadn’t known what until now.

"Why do you want my help, though?" Atticus raised a brow. "With your talents, you’ll be able to reach the Paragon rank easily."
