Briar was speechless. She pointed at her head. “You all praise how smart I am, so is it really surprising I figured out Tristan returned?”
Besides, when they acted all mysterious and asked her to guess something at a time like this, the person in question must definitely have something to do with her, and with the people behind the scenes.
Ashton glared at his two friends. “Briar is right. You underestimate her. Besides, she would have found out about Tristan’s return on her own soon enough.”
Briar had another formidable secret identity. She was Legendary Hacker Bree. She could find out almost anything she wanted to know.
Of course, the underground laboratory incident was an exception.
Reece and Hamish exchanged a look, and both shrugged. “Alright, we forgot. Back to the point. Briar, now that Tristan is back, how do you plan to deal with him?”
A sarcastic smile appeared on Hamish’s face. “Tristan is your mentor, after all. You can’t just go after him without a legitimate reason!”
Briar rolled her eyes in exasperation. She didn’t need Hamish to remind her.
Tristan probably chose to return to Dasmieca at this time for the same reason. Regardless, the fact that he was her master could not be changed or erased by anyone.
Otherwise, her title as the “Little Miracle Doctor” would exist in name only.
A cold glint flashed in Briar’s eyes. But she didn’t care about the title “Little Miracle Doctor” at all.
Since returning to Dasmieca, she had only treated Griffin. She had never helped anyone else, no matter who secretly sought her out.
Her intentions were so obvious. She was sure that the person behind the scenes and Tristan noticed it. They were just lying to themselves.
After all, they had very few ways to control her now.
“Even if I’m not supposed to touch him, I will. Anyone who tries to stop me from avenging my mother. I won’t show them mercy.” Briar said coldly, staring at her own palm.
Ever since Ashton found out she was an instructor at the DDC Vanguard Mercenary Special Operations Base, she had stopped using special ointment to smooth the calluses on her palms and fingertips.
As a result, her hands were not smooth and soft like those of a typical girl. They were covered in calluses.
Ashton covered her hand with his, enclosing it completely. “My love, so what if you lost Tristan? You still have us. Aren’t the three of us combined stronger than Tristan?”

His words made Briar laugh.
He was right. Losing a mentor who had plotted against her from the very beginning in exchange for three powerful figures was a trade she didn’t lose out on.
Hearty laughter immediately filled the private room.
“You came back? Just like that? You ran back here?” In the study of the Swift family villa, Joshua stared at his old friend, who was just as travel–worn and silver–haired as he was.
“We haven’t seen each other for almost twenty years, and that’s the first thing you say to me?” Tristan tossed his bag onto the floor and plopped down into a seat.
Joshua was not as optimistic as Tristan. “Wipe that smirk off your face. You’re on the wanted list for both Briar and Ashton.”
Tristan shrugged. “So what? I taught her myself, so I know her temperament. Relax, she wouldn’t dare actually kill me.”
Joshua frowned, his heart pounding. “You shouldn’t get too comfortable. Your apprentice isn’t on good terms with me or Marvin anymore.”
And they hadn’t even been that closely involved in the events surrounding her mother’s death. She had already kicked the two of them out of her “good people” category.
If Briar knew the culprit who drained her mother into a husk had returned to Dasmieca, how would she react?
Anyone who discovered the truth wouldn’t forgive Tristan. And Briar was not the type to be kind or softhearted in the first place.
These past few days, the commotion she and Ashton had stirred up in Shoneport was significant.
But Tristan still didn’t seem to care. He waved his hand dismissively. “Enough about me. Back then, among the five of us, you and Marvin were living the most carefree lives. Why don’t you call Marvin and get him over here? The three of us can have a little reunion.”
Joshua ignored his suggestion. “If we’re talking about the one who’s really living the good life, that would be Griffin, wouldn’t it? Look at the Wade family…”
Tristan said, “The Wade family’s success can largely be credited to that grandson, aside from Griffin and Steven’s connections and networks, right?”
Tristan had been away from Dasmieca for many years. Their once high–spirited and ambitious group had all grown old. But he still understood the basic situation in Shoneport.
Ashton played a significant role in the Wade family’s rise to become the most prominent family in Shoneport and even all of Dasmieca.
In fact, without Ashton, there would be no Wade family as it stood. That was why Griffin intended to pass

down the position of family head to him.
Only those few foolish Wade family members who couldn’t see the big picture had jumped at the chance to oppose him after finding out that Ashton was not a biological member of the family.
