Bound By Moonlight to My Mates (by Sofange Daye) novel Chapter 26

Chapter 26

Charlotte

The bass rattles through my chest the moment we step inside. Heat and smoke cling to the air, thick with sweat and pheromones. Wolves prowl everywhere. Some are halfshifted, glowing eyes catching in the strobing lights. Others are dancing, while some are fighting in corners, and still more are pressed up against walls with nothing left to the imagination.

I freeze just past the doorway, my instincts screaming. This is rogue territory. I shouldn’t be here.

I expected this place to be full of rogues, but I couldn’t have been more wrong. Wolves from different packs are here, mingling with the rogues as if it were normal. If the Alphas knew what was going on here, they would never allow their pack members to leave their houses again.

Leah tosses her hair back, grinning like she owns the place. Oh, don’t look so stiff, Char. You’re gorgeous, dangerous, and absolutely wasting it hiding in your room. Come on.

She grabs my hand and drags me through the crowd before I can argue, I stumble after her, every nerve on edge, my wolf snarling at the scents brushing against me. The shoes she insisted I wear with this dress are too high, and my toes are already screaming, but I do have to admit they are the perfect match

Tala is pissed that we are here, but the buzz in the atmosphere is beginning to awaken something inside me. Maybe a rebellious streak I didn’t know I had. There’s something liberating about being here. No pack politics, no mates circling like hawks. Just chaos.

Pushing her way to the bar, she waves down the bartender. A wide grin spreads across his lips when he sees her.

Hello, beautiful. Where have you been?

Batting her eyelashes shamelessly, she points over her shoulder to me. Babysitting.

His dark eyes roam over my body. Fresh meat.

Leah laughs a little too loudly. Not this one, She is mine.”

He pushes his bottom lip into a pout before pushing two drinks in our direction. On the house.”

What was that?I yell over the music.

But Leah doesn’t answer. She is too busy downing the drink in her hand. When she is finished, she tilts mine to my lips. Drink.

I sniff the liquid before taking a sip. It is fruity and goes down easily. Before I can pull the cup from my lips, Leah grabs it, leaving it on the bar.

She doesn’t hesitate, pulling me into the crush of bodies on the dance floor. Let go,she shouts over the music, already swaying her hips to the beat.

I shake my head, but the rhythm pulses through me, demanding I move. Tala stirs angrily, cussing me for being here, determined to ruin my good time. Out of spite, I give in, just a little. My hips start to follow the music, my arms sliding up into the air. For once, I’m not the Alpha’s rejected mate, not the girl holding everyone’s expectations. I’m justme.

We dance together, our bodies writhing together shamelessly. Leah’s hands roam over my body, and I can’t bring myself to care. The alcohol has fully taken effect, and I am enjoying myself. She spins, pressing her back against my chest, and points through the crowd.

I will be right back,” she winks, then disappears into the crowd with a darkhaired woman who’s been eyeing her all night. Typical Leah.

I laugh under my breath, but the sound dies when a stranger presses up behind me. His hand snakes around my wrist, fingers rough.

Pretty little thing,he growls against my ear, his breath sour with alcohol. You smell too good to be in a place like this. You lost, sweetheart?

I try to pull away from him, but he keeps his arm around my waist. My eyes scan the crowd for Leah, but she is nowhere to be seen.

Where are you going? The man’s breath is hot against my skin. I just want to play.”

His fingers inch their way south, and I prepare myself to fight. Tala bristles, but before I can snap back, the pressure on my arm vanishes.

The man is gone, slammed against the wall like he weighs nothing.

And standing in his place is him.

Damon.

Tall, broadshouldered, eyes like storm clouds ready to break. The raw dominance rolling off him makes the other rogues shrink back. His hand clamps around my arm, not cruel, but firm enough to make my pulse trip.

What the hell are you doing here, little one?His voice is low, dangerous, and it vibrates through me like another layer of the bass.

My mouth goes dry. None of your business.”

His gaze drops to my lips, lingers there. The corner of his mouth curves, You’ve got no idea how wrong you are.”

Our eyes meet with unspoken heat, and I hate to admit how good he looks. His black shirt is unbuttoned just enough for me to see his tattoos peeking out from his collar. They seem to glow under the lights of the club, and suddenly, I am swarmed with jealousy.

What are you doing here?I parrot his question.

Damon leans down, his lips brushing my ear as the music pounds around us. What’s wrong, little one. Are you jealous?

Don’t be ridiculous,I scoff. Why would I be jealous?

He leans in close, and his breath fans across my lips. Maybe you think I am here tolet off some steam.
