Chapter 41
Charlotte
His words hang in the air between us. A threat and a promise. “I know I am.”
Tam
My heart is pounding so hard it hurts. Tala is wild under my skin, her claws dragging in the corners of my mind. ‘Yes. Yes.
Yes.
I cross my arms to hide my shaking hands. “You think you can just say something like that, and I’ll what? Melt? After what I saw downstairs? With her lipstick still smeared across your lips?”
Damon smirks, wiping his lips with the back of his hand. His mouth tilts dangerously, and it makes me want to slap him, or kiss him. I haven’t decided which is the better option yet. He takes a step closer, and I take another back. We continue our little dance, until his body is crowding me against the wall.
“You were jealous.” His voice is low and rough. “Don’t bother denying it.”
My checks burn. “I wasn’t…”
“You were ready to claw her eyes out,” he interrupts, his palm slamming against the wall beside my head. His body cages mine, heat rolling off him. “Admit it, Little Wolf. You hate the thought of anyone else touching me.”
I swallow hard, my pulse tripping. “You don’t know what I hate. You don’t know anything about me.”
“Oh, I do.” His other hands slides down, catching my wrist, and pinning it above my head. His mouth hovers dangerously close to mind. He smells of whiskey. “You hate that you want me.”
My breath hitches in my chest. Tala press forward, wanting his teeth in my throat, and his mark on my skin. With each passing day she is becoming more and more desperate, but that doesn’t mean I am.
“Wanting you doesn’t mean, I’ll have you.” I snap back in defiance.
He chuckles. His eyes burning like embers. “Little Wolf, you already do.”
And then he kisses men. It is hard and claiming, like he has been holding back all this time. My free hand fists his shirt, dragging him closer even as my head screams that I shouldn’t. Our teeth clash and tongues wrestle. My lips are bruised, growing swollen with each drag of his teeth.
When he finally pulls back, I’m gasping for air. My body trembles against his and I hate myself for it.
His mouth brushes against my ear, as he growls. “Tell me to stop, Little Wolf.”
Tala lunges forward. ‘Don’t stop. Don’t ever stop.’
I grit my teeth, forcing the words out even though I don’t believe them. “You’re infuriating.”
He lips twitch against my skin. “And you’re mine.”
His teeth graze my throat. So close to the spot where a mark would bloom on my skin. I shudder, trying to push away the thought, and dig my nails into his shoulders.
And then, he steps back, and the cold air of the apartment slams into me. His jaw is tight as he draws in a ragged breath.
“Not like this,” he mutters, raking a hand through his hair. “When I take you, it won’t be out of anger.”
My knees threaten to buckle. I press back against the wall, trying to keep myself upright. My lips still burn from his kiss, and my body screams for more.
Damon just stares at me. “Soon. You can fight me all you want, but we both knows how this ends.”

He’s still close, I can smell the whiskey on his breath. That dangerous smirk is gone, and the raw heat between us is too much to bear. I clench my jaw, the constant urge to defy him always clawing at the surface.
“Prove it.” I whisper. My voice is steady, but my hands tremble.
Damon’s head tilts, and his eyes grow dark. “You don’t know what you are asking for.”
I roll my shoulders back. “I do.”
He exhales sharply, looking me up and down. I think he is going to deny me again, but then, he’s one me. His mouth crushing mine and his hands grabbing my hips, and hauling me against him. The kiss turns to fire. It is deep and punishing, stirring pleasure between my thighs. I arch into him, tangling my fingers in his hair.
Lifting me from the ground, I wrap my legs around his waist, never breaking the kiss. He marches back the hallway, before dropping me onto his bed. His hands slide under the hem of my hoodie, tracing his fingers along my skin.
Everywhere he touches feels like lightning on my flesh and I moan against his lips. My back arches off the bed and my hips rise to meet him.
“Damon.” I gasp between kisses as he presses me down. His body blanketing mine. “I hate you.”
He grins against my mouth. “You taste like you don’t. You taste like you want me.”
His lips travel down my jaw, and along my throat. He nips there, just enough to tease me. My fingers dig into his shoulders, dragging him closer.
“Say it,” he murmur against my skin. “Tell me you want me.”
I swallow hard. “I want you.”
His answering sound is a low growl. My clothes are gone in an instant, tossed on the floor beside the bed. My eyes widen as I watch him remove his. I have done this once before, but it doesn’t quell the nerves in my belly.
He slides a thigh between mine. The pressure makes my breath hitch, and I squeeze my eyes shut. His hand skims down my stomach, cupping the back of my thigh. Heat pools low in my belly, and I feel like I might combust
He kisses me again, slower and deeper, his hips rolling once. His cock settles at my entrance, and I squeeze my eyes shut tighter.
Damon pulls back and runs a finger down my cheek, coaxing my eyes open. “You’re sure?”
1 pull my lip between my teeth. “Yes,” I breathe. “I just don’t.”
He growls again, low and feral. He bends to kiss me, his hands sliding over my skin as if memorizing every inch.
“We will go slow.”
