Chapter 33: Fool’s gold.

The night James Watson met with Adrianna Delgato, she promised him she would help him bring down his nephew and take over Watts- Corp. Under one condition; he sign a new designer.

As they ate their dinner, James slightly chuckled.

“I thought you were having a competition to find your new designer.”

Adrianna smiled seductively as she sipped her wine.

“I was only doing that in hopes of drawing the person I’m interested in out. But I don’t think she’s ready to expand just yet. I need to see her interact with another top company.”

James looked at Adrianna with a puzzled expression. Was she referring to Elizabeth? Shaking his head, he took a bite of his steak.

“If you’re referring to Elizabeth Bowen, I’m as stomped with finding her as you are.”

Adrianna looked at James with a confusing expression.

“Who’s Elizabeth Bowen?”

James stopped cutting his steak; his eyes widen in confusion.

“Are you serious?”

“Yes. Who is Elizabeth Bowen?”

James was extremely confused now, if she wasn’t referring to Bowen, then who was she speaking about?

“I’m confused Adrianna….who are you talking about?”

Adrianna smiled as she took another sip of wine.

“I was speaking about Vanessa Taylor.”

!!!!! Vanessa Taylor? Harold Taylor’s daughter???? James found himself drawing a million questions. Since when did Harold Taylor’s daughter become a top designer!!!

“I….okay I am extremely confused Addy. Are you talking about Harold Taylor’s daughter? Harold Taylor as in real estate tycoon?”

Adrianna nodded.

“Yes. Of HT–Corp. His daughter is a designer…and a marvelous one at that!”

James couldn’t believe it! When did this happen? How had he missed it! Was Joshua aware?

“Wait…how do you know this? I haven’t seen any of her work.”

“That’s because she only works for her father at this present time. Honestly, I’m surprised you didn’t know…your nephew has been trying to setup a meeting with her.”

James eyes widen in shock! So Joshua WAS interested in her! No wonder he wasn’t trying to find Bowen! He already had his sights set on someone else!

“How do you know this!”

Adrianna smiled.

“I’m a Delgato James….I know everything.”

James could feel his nerves rising, if Joshua secured a new designer he would lose his chance to take over as CEO.

“So why hasn’t he signed her yet!”

Adrianna shrugged her shoulders.

“I don’t know all the details; but from what I heard, the offer he made her was pretty pathetic, so the Taylors never entertained a meeting with him.”

James smiled smugly.

“I knew it. He’s nothing but a young arrogant fool just like his father.”

James suddenly looked at Adrianna with a questionable expression.

“I’m confused Addy…why do you need me to reach out to her? Why not reach out yourself?”

Adrianna chuckled to herself. ‘So you’re not a complete fool James. Good. That will make destroying you that much more delicious.‘

“Her father is trying to secure a contract with me. If he knew I was interested in his daughter, he could use it as leverage over me to bend a business deal completely in his favor.”

James nodded, Adrianna had a point. The minute Taylor would have found out she wanted his daughter as his designer; it would have given him a complete advantage. If he remembered anything about Adrianna, he knew she never liked going into a business deal without having the upper hand.

“Okay…I understand that part, but how does me signing her help you?”

“If you can secure Taylor in a contract, I’ll go into a merger deal with Watts–Corp.”

James nearly spit up his wine! He could hardly believe his ears!

“A–Are you serious!!!”

Adrianna smiled smugly inwardly, ‘Gotcha!‘

“Of course. I think that type of partnership could really expand both our companies. Your hotels and resorts, my condos and townhomes. Together, we can monopolize the entire four sectors.”

James suddenly felt as if the heavens had opened the gates for him! With this type of merger, he would be able to convince the board to make him Chairman!

“Plus, that way I won’t have to go into business directly with HT–Corp. I don’t like Harlod Taylor very much; and you know how much I hate working with people I despise.”

James laughed hysterically. His arrogance at an all time high.

“Oh trust me Addy, I definitely remember what you do to those you despise! So, is she really that good?”

Adrianna smiled as she slid a folder with blueprint designs over to him along with sketches. One of the designs was the one Vanessa used to win an award while in designing school….a design that belonged to Josie.

“Secure this deal James and I’ll make sure she wins the competition. Which would skyrocket her name even further”

After looking over the designs and sketches; impressed…James agreed to Adrianna’s terms; if he could secure a contract with Vanessa Taylor, she would set up a merger between House Delgato and Watts–Corp!

James arrived at HT–Corp 8AM sharp. He’d managed to secure a face to face meeting with Harold Taylor even after his fool of a nephew sent him that ridiculous business proposition.

“Good morning, Welcome to HT–Corp; how can I help you?”

The receptionist smiled brightly at James as he made his way to the front desk.

“I have an 8:30 meeting with Harold and Christian Taylor. I’m President James Watson.”

The receptionists eyes widen. Smiling, she quickly grabbed a badge.

“Oh yes President Watson! Chairman Taylor informed us of your visit today. Welcome to HT–Corp, please take this visitor’s pass.”

The receptionist led James to the conference room. Once they entered, Christian Taylor was already at the table. Immediately standing once James walked in, Christian extended his hand for a handshake.

“President Watson, it’s a pleasure to meet you. I’m Christian Taylor, President of HT–Corp.”

James extended the greetings.
