Chained To The Devil novel Chapter 39

MAIN VILLA

11:37 PM

Khalid didn’t thank me for deliberately losing the fight.

He went to celebrate his victory with a so-called friend, he won’t be coming home tonight.

Hakim is out too, invited to a party. And Maria is sleeping over at one of her friends’ places.

My body is sore all over.

I’ve been lying in bed staring at the ceiling for thirty minutes without moving. The sky is covered by a storm.

When I was little, I used to run to Maria’s bed. In her arms, I always felt safe.

“For once, you actually listened when I talked to you.”

I turn around. I see Alexander with a big black sports bag.

I get up from my bed, holding my torn beige satin robe tightly.

I definitely need to buy a new one when I get the time.

I grab the black sports bag and check its contents. I smile: one problem solved.

“The security guards didn’t see you come in?”

“Are you seriously asking me that?”

Sorry, the man as agile as a tiger and as discreet as a chameleon.

“Thanks for keeping your word.”

“I’m a man of my word.”

I didn’t doubt it.

I was about to speak when a lightning bolt echoed. I almost jumped, but I held back just in time.

I don’t have much credibility left. If he figures out I’m afraid of storms, I’ll lose the rest.

“You should leave now.”

He looks at me and then smiles mischievously. He takes off his shoes and starts jumping on my bed.

“What the hell are you doing? Get down right now and get out.”

“You’re really going to kick me out in this storm when I could get electrocuted if lightning hits your tree?”

I stare at him wide-eyed. He lies down on my bed, placing his arms behind his head. He gives me a provocative smile.

He seriously doesn’t think I’m going to let him stay here, does he?

“Get out of my room right now before I call security.”

“Same threats again and again, call them if you want.”

“I’ll scream and my father will come with Hakim!”

“You’re lying, doll. You’re alone.”

How the hell does he know that?

“Before you ask, I’ve got eyes everywhere.”

“Get out now.”

What an asshole!

“Your bed is really comfortable, you’ll have to tell me where it’s from.”

“Go back to your millionaire villa! I don’t want you in my room, get out!”

He shrugs.

“But I feel like staying. I don’t think you have the strength to make me move.”

I glare at him and pull on his legs to get him off the bed, but I feel a sharp pain in my back. I bite my lip hard to keep from screaming.

He looks at me and bursts out laughing.

“That’s pathetic! You should save your strength and come lie down next to me.”

I want to rip his head off and wipe that stupid grin off his face.

“I’m not going to sleep with you!”

“Afraid I’ll touch you in your sleep? I’ve got no intention to.”

“I want you to leave.”

“You’re wasting your breath. I’m not going anywhere, and don’t forget you owe me one.”

I raise my eyebrows.

“Remember when you made me hide in your bathroom? You said you’d return the favor. Now’s the time.”

“What, are you going to blackmail me?”

“I don’t feel like being outside in this weather. Let me stay.”

He keeps smiling while I hold myself back from punching him in the face.

“Go to your car or anywhere else, just far from here!”

“What are you afraid of? That you won’t be able to resist me?”

The same pain shoots through my back and I bite my lip again to suppress it.

“I’m sore all over and clearly don’t have the energy to argue with you.”

“Perfect! So you can come lie down and shut that pretty little mouth.”

“I hate you.”

“Keep saying it like that, and I’m going to start thinking it means the opposite.”

I head to the bed, grab my blanket, and lie down on the floor under his mocking gaze.

He lowers his head toward me from the bed and looks at me, still smiling.

“What? I let you sleep in my bed, but not with me!”

“With the injuries you have, you should be on a mattress.”

“Then you sleep on the floor!”

“Who do you think I am?”

A damn squatter! What nerve!

“There’s no way I’m sleeping with you.”

He laughs, then I hear him flop down on my bed and bury his head in the pillow.

“You have no idea what you’re missing.”

“Let me sleep.”

“You could’ve slept in my arms during the storm and believe me, you wouldn’t have been scared.”

Of course, he noticed!
