Chapter 145
Caleb’s POV
“It’s not just when Aurora stopped breathing, I begin, my voice firm, as everyone furned to look at me. “It’s when we were searching for her ton, Caroling…. she felt it. She felt Aurora’s pain.”
“That’s impossible, Damien frowned, crossing his arms over his chest. Even twins aren’t that connected. There’s no way Caroline could have felt Aurora’s pain like that. His voice was skeptical, but I saw the fear behind them.
I can see the confusion on everyone’s faces, but before anyone could argue further, Jade suddenly gasps, his eyes widening.
“Wait a second,” he mutters, almost like he’s talking to himself.
“Spit it out, Jade,‘ I snapped, unable to hide my frustration. “Stop being so dramatic. But the look on his face–there’s something about it that sends a chill down my spine.
Jade stares at me for a long moment, as if trying to find the right words. “What I just remembered, he starts, his voice low and urgent, “is something that should be impossible.”
His tone sends a ripple of unease through the room, and everyone leans in, waiting for him to explain.
I narrowed my eyes on him. “What do you mean ‘impossible‘?*
Jade hesitates, but then he speaks again, his words careful. “There are stories, Caleb. Stories about bonds like this. But they’re legends, myths… things we’ve always thought were just stories. But now, I’m not so sure.”
My pulse quickens. This is no longer just a weird coincidence–it’s something deeper. “What kind of stories?” I ask impatiently.
“The kind where one person can feel another’s pain across any distance, almost like they’re tethered to each other. I didn’t think it was real. I thought it was just superstition, but now… now I don’t know.” He exhales sharply, like he’s trying to shake off the weight of what he’s saying. And that’s not the most insane part.
My mind was racing. “What’s the most insane part, Jade?” I ask, my voice tense.
He meets my gaze, his eyes dark with something unspoken. “The stories say that such a bond… it’s not something that happens by chance. The legend…it’s ancient. Two women, connected in a way that no one else could understand. They could feel each other’s pain, their joy, their suffering, as if their souls were intertwined, bound by something far beyond the realm of ordinary connection.”
“These women were called Lunar Sisters, and their bond was forged under the most mysterious of circumstances. The stories said they were born under the light of a full moon, during the time when the moon’s power was at its peak, somewhere between two and three in the morning. The Witching Hour, they called it. And these women were supposed to have extraordinary powers as well.”
“Telekinesis. A power that connected them on a level deeper than mere physical ability. They could move things with their minds, sure, but more than that, they could sense each other’s every thought, every feeling. It was a connection so profound, so intimate, that it was said to be impossible to break. And it was that bond, that incredible power, that made them something more than just twins or close friends. It made them something otherworldly.”
We all looked towards Caroline, hanging on to every word Jade said. She was silent at first, before she let out a sigh, and nodded her head.
“I’ve always felt this… connection to Aurora,” she said, her fingers twitching nervously in her lap. “Ever since I first saw her, there was this pull. I couldn’t explain it, not at first, but it grew stronger as we got closer to our eighteenth birthdays. I just…didn’t want to admit it because I thought it would sound too
weird.”
“I get it,” I said quietly. “That makes sense. And you’re right, Aurora’s birth… it’s still a mystery. She never knew the exact date. So, it’s possible that she is your Lunar Sister.”
The air in the room seemed to thicken with that possibility. For a moment, I thought we might actually be getting somewhere–piecing together the puzzle of Aurora’s past. But before I could say anything else, Jade suddenly interrupted.
“Hold on,” Jade said, his tone sharp.

“There’s a catch,” he continued, and my heart sank. “Remember when I mentioned the Witching Hour? This is why.”
1 frowned, glancing at Jade, trying to figure out where he was going with this. “What do you mean? What does the Witching Hour really signify?”
Jade’s expression was serious, his eyes narrowing as if the weight of what he was about to say was just as heavy for him as it was for us.
“In cases of Lunar Sisters,” he began, his voice low, “there’s a binding by the Moon Goddess. But here’s the thing–one of the pairs is always a wolf, and the other? A witch.”
The words hit me like a punch to the gut. I felt the air shift around me, the atmosphere growing colder.
