Aurora’s P.O.V
I step forward, my gaze hard, my voice cold. “Step aside,” I tell the girls, my tone leaving no room for negotiation.
“I have nothing to say to you, and I certainly don’t owe you any explanations. So move.”
But Taylor takes a step toward me, her eyes narrowed. I feel the air shift before she even speaks, the challenge in her eyes obvious.
“You think you can just walk in here and act like you’re above all of us now?” she sneers, her voice dripping with sarcasm. “Just because you’ve changed your hair, changed your clothes, doesn’t mean you’ve changed your place.”
Before I can process what’s happening, she raises her hand and slaps me across the face. The sting is sharp, but I’m too stunned to move for a second. I cradle my cheek in disbelief, my fingers trembling for a moment. Did she really just…?
But as I turn to look at the girls, they both seem to have a look of smug satisfaction on their face, like they had just won the lottery. Their confidence in doing something wrong infuriated me, especially since I knew that till now, they had always gotten away with treating me like shit.
But ever since my heart stopped, something inside me had shifted, and it was that same shift that now gave me the courage to look back into their eyes, without fear or resignation.
If this was the old me, I would’ve cowered away, keep from getting myself in trouble. But that Aurora was long gone and I had enough of their bullshit all my life.
The anger surges through me. I snap my head up, my eyes blazing. “You think you can just slap me and get away with it?” I growl, stepping into her space.
Without warning, I strike back, slapping her hard, the force of it making her stumble. She doesn’t even have time to recover before I slap her again, the sound of it echoing in the room. Her face is red, but I can see the shock in her eyes, the realization that she pushed me too far.
Bridget gasps, her eyes wide with fear. She starts to back away, her hand flying to her mouth as if she can somehow undo what’s already been done. “I’m going to get help!” she screams, her voice high–pitched with panic.
I move in a flash, grabbing her by the hair and yanking her back toward me, my grip firm. “Oh no, you’re not going anywhere,” I sneer, my voice low and dangerous.
“If you need to go running to other people, creating fake stories, playing the victim just to get attention, then you are nothing but a pathetic loser who doesn’t deserve an ounce of my time.”
I pull her hair tighter, watching as her eyes widen in fear, but I’m done with them. Done with their games.

Chapter 177
I shoved Bridget so hard that she stumbled back a few steps. My fist clenched, and I didn’t take a moment to think before I glared at her. “If you come at me again,” I said, my voice low and dangerous.
“I won’t hesitate to retaliate. You better watch out.” Her eyes widened, a mix of fear and awe flashing across her face. She didn’t say anything at first, just stared at me like I was some kind of monster. Finally, she opened her mouth and whispered. “What happened to you, Aurora?”
I locked my eyes on hers, and with a cold smirk, I answered, “Looks like the old Aurora is dead.”
As the words left my mouth, a surge of power coursed through me. My eyes flickered with an eerie green glow, the kind that sent shivers down anyone’s spine. I could see the fear in her, the way she took a hesitant step back, like I might snap at any moment. It felt good to see them all cower.
I ran my fingers through my hair, fixing it, feeling the thrill of control surging within me. Turning on my heel, I headed back to the cafeteria. The buzz of whispered conversations followed me, but I didn’t care. Caroline, Jade and Caleb were still sitting at our usual spot, waiting eagerly for me. I plopped down next to Caleb, feeling his gaze on me but choosing to ignore it for the moment. I glanced around the room, taking in the hushed murmurs and the curious stares from everyone around me. I let out an exasperated sigh.
“This is ridiculous,” I muttered, rolling my eyes. It was like I couldn’t catch a break anymore.
