"As far as I know, Patrick really has never forced Amelia to go with him. Gramps, if you don't believe me, I'm willing to use my good legs to vouch for him."
Gramps Hopper was shocked by Owen's 'oath' and instructed, "Then why are you still kneeling? Get up!"
However, Owen unexpectedly refused. "No, gramps, I have to kneel."
Gramps Hopper was pissed. "Why? Are you doing this on purpose to show that you're mad at me?"
"No gramps, if I don't kneel, how can I show how much you value Amelia?" Owen explained with a deeper meaning.
Gramps Hopper immediately understood, "Well, you can continue to kneel then."
As he was already used to it, Owen replied, "Yes, gramps."
Known to be someone with an iron fist, it was expected that Gramps Hopper would not allow Owen get up unlike other ordinary parents and only kneel down when Amelia came.
When Amelia came in, she saw Owen kneeling in front of Gramps Hopper through the window of the ward door. Owen seemed to be scolded to the point that he could not raise his head.
She covered her mouth in surprise. She did not expect that Gramps Hopper would punish Owen so severely!
Patrick who also witnessed this scene and noticed the expression on Amelia's face told her coldly, "Director Ramsay, it seems that you know very well that you're the one who made my brother kneel down because of this disaster."
"I..." Amelia put her hand down and could not help looking at Owen with deep regret.
As if he was still unsatisfied with her reaction, Patrick sneered and added, "Well, stop looking so miserable. If you have time to act all innocent, you'd better go in and rescue my brother. Don't forget that his leg is still wounded!"
Amelia glanced at him, thoroughly upset. "You don't need to say it out loud. I know what to do!"
"Then why don't you hurry up and go in?" Patrick urged.
Amelia took a deep breath and pushed open the door of the ward before she lost her courage.
When Gramps Hopper heard the sound of the door opening behind him, he seemed to switch on like a switch. He began to point to Owen's nose and scolded.
"How did you even do this? You can't even properly invite her to come! You don't have to kneel anymore.
Get as far away as you can, get away from me!"
"Gramps, please don't be angry!"
"Humph!"
During the whole exchange, Owen's eyes were facing towards the door. When he caught sight of Amelia, his handsome face immediately lit up. "Gramps!
Turn and look who came!"
"I don't care who it is!" Although he said so, Gramps Hopper cooperated with Owen to turn his head over.
After he saw that it was Amelia who came, the cruelty on Gramps Hopper's face stopped.
He was obviously very happy in his heart, but he pretended to be harsh and asked, "What are you doing here!"
Amelia was scared to death by his fierce tone and answered timidly, "Um, Gramps... Mr.... Hopper, Old Mr. Hopper, I've come to apologize to you."
All kinds of names were circling around her mouth, and she finally chose the most respectful title she could think of, 'Old Mr. Hopper'.
"Old Mr. Hopper!" He looked at her with a look that did not seem to be very grateful.
Amelia held her ten fingers tightly and asked boldly, "Old Mr. Hopper, please allow me to ask you a question. Is it because of me that Mr. Owen was punished by kneeling down?"
He kept quiet ever since he came in, but he had already a strong sense of belonging. After hearing what his grandpa said, he taunted, "It's obvious that Amelia isn't comfortable with this, but you're still stubborn. Do you think calling you 'gramps' will have any meaning?"
Gramps Hopper was so pissed with what Patrick had said that he was having a rise in his blood pressure!
In response, Owen quickly handed him some water and medicine.
After resting on the bed for a while, Gramps Hopper looked at Amelia again and said, "Amelia, see how I, an old man so anxious for you, and there is a possibility that I won't be able to make it through this winter. Is it so difficult for you to call me gramps?"
Amelia was speechless. "Old Mr. Hopper, what you said is quite serious. As long as your blood pressure is maintained and all your meals are simple, together with the help of some medicine, your blood pressure will prove not to be a threat to your life."
"You! Look at you, there you go calling me Old Mr. Hopper again!"
His eyes went as wide as a cow's bell as he said,
"Fine! If you don't make me feel good, then I won't let you have a good time either. Listen ..."
Just when Amelia thought that Gramps Hopper was going to issue something like a 'killing order' for her, she heard him mumbling as if he was chanting a spell, "Ms. Ramsay, Ms. Ramsay, Ms. Ramsay..."
Amelia was stunned
Not only her, Owen and Patrick also could not help feeling funny.
What kind of a 'bad time' is this? This was simply a manifestation of a crackhead!
Unsure of when, Gramps Hopper withdrew from his chanting and asked dryly, "Ms. Ramsay, how do you feel when I addressed you like this? Do you feel good?"
Amelia's face was slightly pale. After hesitating for a while, she finally shook her head in silence.
"That's right! Then, let me tell you the truth. When you called me Old Mr. Hopper, I didn't feel the slightest degree of respect from you. I only felt disgusted! Hypocritical! Artificial!"
