Looking at the time from the wall clock showing it was yet to reach five o'clock, Amelia simply enjoyed the leisure time. She sat down in front of the dressing table, bent down, plugged in the hairdryer, and began to blow her hair.
As Amelia was stroking her hair, she found it a little dry recently, and there were even spilt ends.
She could not help but took a look at herself in the mirror, only to find that not only her hair, but also her face had seemed to look worse than before.
Divorce, gossip, and scheming back and forth, had indeed all brought harm to a woman's appearance, to a great extent.
In this regard, she frowned and thought. How could she make herself a wan woman even before her child was born?
She decided to treat herself better, such as going to the beauty salon to do some hair care or skin care during the weekend.
After thinking about it, she put the hairdryer down, picked up her phone, typed and sent a text message to Jessica.
Some time ago, Sierra whom Jessica had adopted had just experienced a heart surgery, so it was not a good timing for her to ask Jessica out. She was afraid that Sierra would need Jessica around to look after her.
Since it had passed for quite a long time, she believed that Sierra's condition had already stabilized. She felt that she could finally be able to invite Jessica out and meet her.
Not long after the text message was sent out, Amelia received her reply.
Not only did Jessica agree to go to the beauty salon with her on Saturday, she also told her that Sierra was recovering well for the time being.
That was great!
Amelia was sincerely happy for the mother and daughter.
Jessica's next text message came into her sight at the moment.
"Amelia, I'm sorry. When Sierra and I were in our greatest despair, you've helped us selflessly. But I didn't get to be by your side to support you during your saddest time. It's good to meet you on Saturday. I... I have something to talk to you about the past."
Amelia had been puzzled by the recent silence of Jessica.
Her relationship with Jessica was not as good as before because of the elders. But even as an ordinary friend, she could have called her after knowing that she had divorced. At the very least, she would have sent a text message to show her concern, right?
But for the past few days, Jessica had not made a single move.
If Amelia had not taken the initiative to contact Jessica, would she have continued to remain silent?
From Jessica's second text message, Amelia found something unusual.
"I... I have something to talk to you about the past."
Jessica's past?
Holding back her curiosity to immediately call Jessica for a clear answer, Amelia replied,
"It doesn't matter. See you on Saturday!"
Knock, knock, knock...
When Amelia heard the knock on the door, she shouted without turning back, "You may come in to clean up. The door is unlocked."
The door opened with a click, but it was not a servant who came to clean, instead, she came to send a message. "Ms. Amelia, your guest is
downstairs." "My guest?" Amelia looked back casually and asked,
"Who is it?"
"Mr. Patrick."
Amelia hurriedly ran downstairs, with her long hair still wet. She saw Patrick in a black suit. Sitting with his legs crossed, he was watching a financial program on the TV with a teacup in his hand. Behind him stood three beautiful maids of the Ramsay Family.
One of them was holding a teapot, the other one was holding a fruit platter, while the last one did not have anything in hand. She purely joined them just to admire Patrick!
After witnessing the scene, Amelia could not help but gritted her teeth in anger!
The maid raised the teapot.
Amelia directly gave a deadly order. "If you dare to brew the tea, I will fire you!"
"Ms. Amelia..." The maid looked at Amelia pathetically. The teapot was very heavy. Could the two masters stop fooling around with her?
Patrick floated his lips and said, "What a coincidence! The Hopper Family is short of manpower now. I will hire whoever your master fires. The salary will be three times what you earn in the Ramsay Family."
"Wow, thank you, Mr. Patrick!" The maids immediately smiled happily. Some of them even offered to resign from their current job in front of Amelia.
Amelia was speechless and felt a sense of suppression in her chest.
Patrick had just said a few words yet the Ramsay Family was about to fall apart!
Amelia could no longer bear it when she saw Patrick's arrogant eyes so she said, "Patrick! What the h*ll are you here for?"
Patrick said in a manner as if he was the owner of the place, "I don't like looking up at others. Sit down while we talk."
Amelia deliberately argued with him. "But I like to stand!"
"Seems like you don't want me to leave soon," said Patrick with a smile. He lowered his head and took another sip of the freshly brewed tea.
Amelia immediately sat opposite him with a livid face. Then she grabbed an empty teacup on the table and handed it to the maids as she got thirsty. "Get me a cup as well."
D*mn it! Every time she talked to Patrick, she felt like she was fighting a war!
"Okay!" answered the maid obediently.
"Don't go there first." Patrick stopped the maid from approaching Amelia. Then, he raised his eyebrows to look at her. "Didn't you say you wanted to fire her?"
Amelia was embarrassed by his question that she threw up, "Did you come just to torture me to death? Did you!?"
