[In addition, your kissing skills had really not improved as usual.]
That was the last sentence Patrick had said before he let her go.
Could it be... that he no longer suspected that she had an affair with Sawyer just because her kissing skills had not improved?
D*mn it! It had nothing to do with her no matter how he thought about it!
Amelia shook her head and forced herself to stop thinking about Patrick. She had arrived at floor A and told the nurse at the information counter that she was Amelia. The nurse asked, "Miss Amelia Ramsay, where have you been? The patient in ward A-04 was crazily looking for you just now!"
Amelia was immediately overwhelmed by shame after hearing the nurse's words. It was simply too inhumane that she had made Shawn, who was injured, to have looked for her everywhere.
She asked, "Where is the patient now?"
The nurse said, "He has been forced back to the ward by several nurses. Although being injured, his
force was surprisingly great."
"Okay, thank you!" Before Amelia left, she pointed at the speaker above and reminded the nurse embarrassingly, "Miss, I have returned safe and sound. Could you please stop the announcement?"
The nurse lowered her head, moved the mouse and clicked on it. When she looked up again, she said to Amelia, "Done."
Amelia had also noticed that the announcement had completely stopped playing after the click. She secretly breathed a sigh of relief and said thank you again, then she turned around and walked towards A-04.
As soon as the door was opened, Amelia was shocked by Shawn's appearance. She had never thought that her leaving would make the young man, who was full of determination, look so panicked.
"Shawn... I'm back."
Shawn immediately raised his head, which had been listless, when he heard Amelia's voice. "Ms. Ramsay!"
Looking at Shawn bouncing from the bed to in front of her, Amelia's first reaction was to go behind him and check on his bandage. Although the wound had not been disrupted, the messiness on the gauze was enough to make her feel guilty.
She reached out her hand and tried to restore it back to its original state. "Sorry, Shawn. I didn't mean to leave and not be found. I've made you worry."
Shawn greatly gasped a few times which was shown through his well-defined chest. He wanted to boldly ask where she had gone, but after being faintly touched by her hands, he turned to say, "It doesn't matter, as long as Miss Ramsay is fine."
After Amelia arranged and wrapped the gauze back nicely for him, she walked outwards from behind him. She was stunned when she saw him holding an apple in his hand. She pointed at it and asked, "This..."
"You haven't come back for way too long, so I was worried and ran out to take a look. When I saw the apple on the ground, I thought something had happened to you, so I went to look for you with the help of the announcement." Shawn said.
"I see." It was reasonable for Shawn to have thought so. After all, the apple had been left on the ground and no one even picked it up. It looked like a kidnapping case.
Seeing Amelia's thoughtful look, Shawn was worried that his actions had annoyed her. He could not help but asked, "Ms. Ramsay, was I being a busybody?"
"No!" Amelia denied firmly. She looked at him and said, "You are very attentive. The credit for my safe return is all on you."
If it was not for the announcement, she might have just become Patrick's snack on the laboratory table.
However, her words sounded different in the ears of Shawn.
His lips that were closely shut slightly curled up. Patrick reached out for his phone and dialed a number.
On the other side...
Amelia finally calmed the strange turmoil in her heart, she washed the Fuji apple that had not been smashed too badly at the basin. Then, she opened the door of the bathroom and returned to Shawn's side.
At the same time, Shawn was sitting on the edge of the bed blankly. When he saw Amelia coming out, he immediately showed a silly smile and said to her while holding up a knife, "Ms. Ramsay, let me cut it. I've forgot to tell you that I am very experienced in cutting things."
As he spoke, he showed his skills in the air as if he was really capable.
When Amelia watched him use the fruit knife as powerful as a military knife, the corners of her mouth twitched and she asked, "Shawn, are the things you usually cut in the army all wood?"
"Yes! Ms. Amelia, how did you know that?" Shawn had been worried that he had no common language with a delicate lady like Amelia.
Unexpectedly, she actually asked a question that was very close to his military life.
Amelia sat on the chair opposite to Shawn and said with a smile, "Because films
with military themes are often broadcasted on TV dramas and movies. I have been in watching them since young, so I can more or less guess it right."
Shawn nodded and said, "To be exact, it's a mannequin made of wood. We usually use our fighting knives to hit the parts of its body..."
While listening to Shawn sharing about the source of the fighting technique up to its development, Amelia was mostly in confusion. After all, there were countless glossaries that she could hardly understand. In the end, she only gave an ordinary praise: "Soldiers are simply amazing!"
