Come To Me (Amelia and Patrick) novel Chapter 1270

Amelia felt ashamed by Mr. Quade's despicable means but yet answered Alice in a calm voice, "It's okay, Alice. I'll be able to solve this problem on my own, you don't have to worry about it!"

"How could I not be worried about you? You're just a woman, how could I not be worried about the types of people you meet every day and the issues that you face? I don't even know what happened to you, how should I help you. Sometimes, when I hear people gossip about you, do you know how much my heart hurts?" Alice complained with a frown.

The maid who stood behind Alice immediately added on, "Yes, Ms. Amelia, Madam was arguing with someone on the phone today. She argued that she knew that her character would not do anything this outrageous! This was all Mr. Quade's fault!"

"Stop talking!" Alice looked at her and the maid resentfully shut her mouth.

Amelia's eyes were slightly red. She quickly lowered her head and apologized, "I'm so sorry Alice, for making you worry."

Alice shook her head and asked with concern,

"What should we do now? Going to court is definitely not a trivial matter. Was our lawyer invited? Where is the evidence? Is it in our favor or against us?"

Faced with a great deal of Alice's questions, Amelia answered, "Alice, please leave everything to me! No matter what happens, I don't believe that the evil will be victorious in the end!"

Although that was what she said, Amelia herself was unsure about this reality in her heart.

All she wanted was for Alice to stop interrogating her. If Alice knew that she had been abused by Mr. Quade last night, Alice would undoubtedly be even more worried than before.

After some thoughts and consideration, Amelia fished out her cell phone from her bag and showed Alice a picture that Kimberly had sent her today. "All right, Alice. Let's just talk about something happier now. What do you think this is?"

Alice took a look and noticed that the person in the photo was Brittany. She was lying on the hospital bed with her face facing towards the camera. It looked like she was in the midst of talking to someone else with her mouth slightly open. She looked exceedingly energetic.

While Amelia observed Alice's expression, she narrated on the side, "Alice, I know that you won't admit this, but I could see that you're still worried about Brittany. So, I asked a friend of mine who works as a nurse in the hospital to take a picture of Brittany's condition and send it to me so that you can have a look."

Alice stared at the photo for a long time and said to Amelia, "Amelia, you're being so considerate. By the way, have you eaten yet? There's still some food left in the kitchen..."

It could be seen that although Alice was concerned, she did not want to discuss anything with regards to Brittany. Amelia noticed that, and she knowingly caressed her stomach while announcing, "Mm, I'd better go and have some food now."

According to Kimberly, the photo that she sent to Amelia was captured during a conflict between Brittany and the rest of the patients in the ward. That picture was originally taken to be filed as a complaint against her. However, due to the angle of which the photographer stood, Brittany looked as if she was animatedly having a chat with the other patients instead.

After her meal, Amelia returned to her bedroom. She dutifully took her medications and took a shower. Then, she fell into a deep thought as she sat in front of the vanity mirror.

All of a sudden, she seemed to think of something and stood up. She went to her desk and turned on the computer.

After Amelia logged onto her email, she clicked open the last email sent by Milton. There were several advertisements in it.

She shook her head lightly and flung all the thoughts about Patrick, Kayla and Mr. Quade at the back of her mind. Then she began to read the plan.

She had given a thought about it. Amelia realized that whether it was regarding the fact that Mr. Quade was suing her, or the reality that Patrick and Kayla refused to testify on behalf of her in court, that instead of spending her time and energy mourning about this depressing reality, she had better use it on something worth ruminating about instead.

Time trickled passed as she immersed herself in extensive reading.

Just as Amelia grabbed the phone next to her and was about to call on Milton to discuss about the creatives, she was rudely interrupted by a prompt 'beep', indicating that he was on another call.

Huh, was it inconvenient for him to accept her call now?

Amelia subconsciously looked at the clock and used it to calculate the time in England. It should be around 1 PM over there. Was Milton taking a lunch break?

As she thought of this, it would be better for her to wait on him to return her call when he was free.

you in some way."

"But, it's because I don’t know how to cook,"

Maryanne pouted. She had a temper of a young lady, but even more than that, she was adorable when she was so.

"You can learn how to cook, right?" Milton glared at her, but nobody could tell how angry he was.

"Your cooking is so good. No matter how much I learn, there's no way that my cooking would be better than yours. If that's the case, why use my culinary skills to spoil both of our stomachs?" Maryanne argued as a matter-of-fact.

"So, what you're trying to say is that only a person with good cooking skills should cook, am I right?" Milton asked with some amusement and a hint of helplessness, wondering in his heart what kind of rationale this was!

Maryanne rolled her twinkling eyes as she skillfully changed the subject. "Oh no! The food will get cold if we continue talking like this. Come on, let's go have our lunch now!"

By taking two or three swift steps, Maryanne reached where Milton was standing. She held onto his arm and cooed affectionately, "Darling, why don't you accompany me to find my brother? If we show how loving we are towards each other, he can return home peacefully as soon as possible."

Milton did not notice that his phone was in the room. He nodded and agreed, "Okay."

Maryanne closed the door of Milton's bedroom before she left, all the while thinking that even if Amelia were to call him again, it was impossible that Milton would be able to hear her.

Hobart was tricked into Maryanne's room by her and he spent more than half an hour enjoying the compiled photos that were there. Upon hearing the knock on the door, he momentarily closed the album that he had not finished skimming through and got up to open the door.

As soon as the door opened, Maryanne's delicate and likable smile immediately came into view, followed by the unfamiliar smile that plastered on Milton's good-looking face.
