Come To Me (Amelia and Patrick) novel Chapter 1278

Patrick let go of her hand. Amelia did not hesitate anymore as she pushed open the car door and left. There were so many problems between them. How could she indulge in her feelings so simply?

After getting out of the car, she buried her neck and tried to hide the traces that Patrick left behind her ear and the nape of her neck before she walked into Apex Construction Corporation.

Patrick stared at her figure through the window as she walked further and further away from him. A moment later, he laughed.

Why was he so unnecessarily bothered by her?

No matter how much she resisted, as long as he was powerful enough, Amelia could never get away from him in the end. It was true in the past, and now in the future, this proves true as well. Did he not solve Mr. Quade's problem for her in person? Besides Patrick, there was no one else who could provide her with such strong support!

Patrick felt a little better as he thought about it. But, when he was reversing his car, the sentence "I don't love you anymore" suddenly echoed in his mind. His heart went cold and his eyes went blank till he almost drove his car into a fountain.

In the midst of the screams of the passersby, Patrick quickly revered his car back on track. He narrowed his eyes dangerously, because just as he was diving deeper and deeper into his feelings for her, Amelia however, brutally denied her love for him. How could he, Patrick Hopper, accept such a humiliation?

Since she said that she would not love him again, he would definitely make her fall in love with him again! Then he would pay back for all she did to wrong him!

As he was driving, Patrick received a phone call. Without looking at it, he clicked into his Bluetooth connection and greeted with a "hello."

"Son, it's me."

Patrick frowned slightly and asked, "Mom, I'm currently driving now. What's the matter?"

After answering him with an 'oh', Eve added, "You're driving? Then let me make this as short as possible. I'm with Kayla now, and she told me that she didn't have enough working experience yet and intends to commit to your company for an internship. What do you think?"

"But, her father is working for the municipal government. Why can't he arrange a job for his beloved daughter instead?" What Patrick was

hinting was: no.

Eve smiled and continued, "Kayla's father is our mayor after all, how would he be able to find time to teach her the ropes step by step? Besides, if Kayla were to work for anyone else, they will treat her differently because of who her father is. So after much thought, I still think that it's best if she works for you."

Considering that Kayla was with Eve at this moment, Patrick did not want to humiliate her so he replied, "Mom, let me think about it first."

However, Eve shot back disapprovingly, "Well actually, mom and Kayla have already asked for grandpa's permission on the phone just now, and he mentioned that Kayla is an inexperienced but very capable child. So, I believe that after working in Roxxon for some time, she will definitely make great progress in her career later on!"

That was to say, Patrick did not have a say in accepting Kayla into his company for her internship? This was grandpa's plan all along!

Patrick's eyes turned cold. Grandpa was the one who arranged Kayla to be in Roxxon while Eve continued to add fuel to the fire, all for the reason of making them develop feelings for each other.

Regardless, Gramps, Eve, and Kayla must have forgotten that Roxxon Corporation was his domain after all. In the future, the way that he dealt with Kayla was out of their control.

As he thought about it, Patrick quickly answered the person on other side of the phone, "Mom, I've thought about it, and I agree that Kayla should come to Roxxon for work. I will surely train her well and won't disappoint Mr. Elliott."

'Ding-

Amelia walked out of the elevator and passed through the long corridor towards her office. Along the way, she met with a group of people spearheaded by Kaleb, and they were standing outside her office muttering amongst themselves, their faces plastered with a deceitful smile.

Amelia knew that nothing good would spring out as soon as she met them. She guessed that they were here to use the matter concerning Mr. Quade to insult her. She wanted to avoid them, but the moment she looked at them, they had also caught sight of her simultaneously.

Kaleb and his men quickly restrained their gloating smiles and faked on a concerned expression towards her. "Hey, it's already noontime. I wonder where did President Ramsay go to? Maybe she went to other companies to discuss about more deals for Apex?"

"That's possible! Everyone in the company knows that President Ramsay is the most hardworking of all. Not to mention, President Ramsay was also the one who went lengths to win the deal of the Eastern District."

Although they said that, their eyes were still filled with contempt.

"Gentlemen," Amelia gracefully bowed to them as a greeting. Then she walked straight towards them, forcefully amplifying the sound of her high-heels. "All these efforts are considered nothing when I'm just doing the best I can for this company."

Another director who accompanied Kaleb retorted regretfully, "Sigh, when it comes to this, I feel extremely sorry for President Ramsay. For Apex, you lost your marriage in order to win this deal. You know, no matter how much I think about it, it seems that you've chosen something that was worth much lesser than the other. Why do women have to make themselves so miserable?"

When Kaleb saw that his underlings had already paved the way for him, he gave a wave of his hand and said, "Enough, everyone. I know that you care about my niece, but let's not talk about the sorrow that happened in the past. It will only make her sadder. Let's proceed to discuss the purpose of our visit."

Amelia glanced at Kaleb with a smile and replied indifferently, "And here I thought that you were bored so you came to visit me for a chat. Since this was about business, why didn't you inform me earlier?"
