"Patrick!" Eve interrupted him rudely. "Do you know what you are talking about?"
Patrick emphasized, "I know it very well!"
Eve snapped, "You must be confused! Why did Mr. Quade only target Amelia but not you? Don't you understand? He didn't want to provoke you! If you go with her, he will panic, and he'll sue you! By that time, the scandals of the Hopper Family will come one after another, and it will be because of the woman behind you. Do you think you can get rid of her in the future?"
Patrick turned serious and said to Eve, "Mom, although Amelia is the accused, the evidence I have is very beneficial to her. As long as I appear at court as a witness, Mr. Quade will get a taste of his own medicine, so you don't have to worry..."
"You don't have to say anymore! I will not agree to it!" Eve said. She wanted to push Amelia away but was stopped by Patrick.
"Mr. Hopper, I don't have much time left," Amelia said softly behind Patrick with a frown.
After Amelia rushed Patrick, he said to Eve, "Mom, sorry." After that, he held Amelia's hand and
quickly passed Eve.
Eve clenched her fist and trembled with anger when she heard the words of Patrick. Fortunately, she came well prepared. When Patrick was about to pass through the garden with Amelia, several strong men suddenly squeezed into the door, forming a human wall, preventing them from leaving.
Amelia looked at them in shock and anxiety.
These people seemed to be either hatchet men or bodyguards. Their figures were one and a half times larger than hers, and their arms exposed outside the vest were full of veins, which looked terrible.
Patrick's heart sank. He looked back at Eve and asked faintly, "Mom, did you bring these people here?"
Eve stretched out a hand to Patrick far away and persuaded, "Son, I don't want to go against you. As long as you let go of that woman's hand and get back to my side, I'll ask them to leave right away, and they won't make it difficult for you."
"And if I don't?" Patrick clenched his teeth.
Eve frowned. "Then I will have them continue to block at the door and stop you from going to the court! But, didn't that woman just say there is not much time left for her? Do you want to drag on
until she goes to court?"
Amelia pulled Patrick's clothes gently. As soon as Patrick turned his face towards her, she immediately said to him, "Mr. Hopper, why don't you give me the physical evidence? I can go by myself."
Patrick handed her his briefcase and said, "Go start up the car first."
Amelia held the briefcase tightly in her arms. She looked at him and asked, "What are you going to do?"
"Don't ask. Leave it to me."
After Patrick gave her a reassuring look, he turned to Eve and said, "Mom, since you are well prepared, what else can I say?"
"Son, your briefcase contains physical evidence, right? As long as you come over, I'll allow her to leave with the briefcase. Otherwise..." Eve's threat was self-evident.
"Miss, please drive your car away quickly." A strong man began to drive her away.
When Amelia got in the car, Patrick was in front of Eve and said calmly, "Mom."
"Hey!" Eve happily replied.
Since Patrick got married, the struggle between Eve and Amelia had never stopped. At first, she always won, but gradually, Patrick shifted his focus. He began to protect his wife and finally even spoke to her loudly. This broke her heart.
But today, she won again without any effort at all!
When Eve looked at Patrick’s apologetic face, she could not help stroking his face and comforted him. "Son, you don't have to apologize to me. I know you're just obsessed."
"Mom." Patrick raised his hand and put it on Eve's hand. He said slowly, "You know, nobody can threaten me, and the exception is you. I still remember that ever since I was a child, I'll do the things others won't allow. But, I will stop as long as you stop me."
Eve was stunned for a moment, and her eyes turned red. "Yes, I didn't expect that you still remember these things. I'm very happy. As long as you leave that woman, you will be a good son in my heart."
With Eve's words, Patrick's gaze moved to the outside of the garden. When he saw that Amelia had driven away, he slightly moved the corner of his mouth and turned to Eve and said, "Mom, I'm sorry, your son is still too capricious."
"How could it be?" Before Eve's emotions were over, Patrick put her hand down gently and then rushed to the garden gate without hesitation.
Eve's pupils contracted. The expression on her face distorted with astonishment. In the end, she let out a hysterical roar. She pointed at Patrick and said, "Stop him!"
