Patrick's smile widened. The sight of Amelia standing in front of him gave him a surreal feeling, not knowing if it was reality or a dream.

During the two nights in the ICU, he had seen her for many times in his dream. But, whenever he wanted to touch her, she would disappear in the air which the scene of Eve grabbing over the steering wheel and violently bumping into them would appear instead!

He had actually seen it very clearly that the one who actually bumped into him and Amelia was Eve, his biological mother, instead of Connor!

At that instance, his eyes had lost focus while his cheeks were tensed. Amelia asked hurriedly, "Patrick, why are you looking so serious? It scares me... Perhaps, are you not feeling well?"

Patrick came to his senses and quickly changed to a gentle gaze, trying not to scare the young lady who was overly worried.

[I'm fine] He mouthed the words.

Amelia sighed and said, "Thank god."

[Where's food?] He asked again.

"Ah! The doctor told me yesterday that you should mainly consume semiliquid food for now which your mother had asked the hospital to arrange it for you. I'm not experienced in this so I dare not prepare it for you!"

Amelia's voice got lower as she spoke. "Sorry, I've failed to keep my promise. I'll prepare them for you when you're discharged."

Patrick deliberately appeared to be sad as if he had been deceived.

Amelia put on her sweetest and most sincere smile and said, "Hey, don't be angry. I did so for your own good!"

Patrick averted his face and ignored her. The coldness he had shown easily made Amelia feel even more uneasy.

The young master had started to lose his temper again!

But, it was because she had failed to keep her promise.

Amelia sighed softly and got closer to coax him yet Patrick turned his face at the moment, and her red lips happened to be on his oxygen mask.

Amelia held her breath and saw the undisguised joy in Patrick's eyes. She realized that she had been fooled by him.

She blushed and straightened up. She then said,

"Why are you still a j*rk even after being hurt so badly?"

[You owed me] He said.

Amelia's anger was immediately gone as she muttered, "Alright, I'll let you off this time, it's not a real kiss anyway."

[I can feel it] He said.

Amelia's face turned redder. She wanted to rush out after saying "have a good rest" as the doctor had reminded her to control her visiting time.

Unexpectedly, at the moment she turned around, Patrick's low and hoarse voice suddenly sounded, "Amelia..."

Amelia was stunned. She turned around and saw Patrick taking off the oxygen mask.

She immediately became anxious and scolded, "Patrick, how could you take it off? Hurry and put it on!"

Patrick took a deep breath and tried to remain normal while saying, "I want to talk to you."

Amelia saw him gasp on each word as he said so she immediately refuted, "That's a no! The doctor said that you are short of blood supply in your brain that would easily lead to anoxia!"

Patrick looked at her tenderly and said, "It should be fine for just a moment."

As he did not listen to her words, Amelia simply reached out to snatch the oxygen mask in his hand which he hid it under the quilt in the end.

Amelia was so angry that she glared at him with her angry eyes.

Patrick got soft-heartened and said, "I'll just say two sentences."

"Okay, then hurry up!"

While Amelia walked away, she thought of his words—

[I no longer love Sissi.]

He had said the words very calmly, but they sounded solid in her ears.

She was unsure if Patrick had really let go of her, or it was just a whim.

What was the reason causing him to be willing to let go?

Could it be her?

Or was it Kayla, who had gone on a blind date with him recently?

But no matter the reason, Patrick being able to say the words was a good start for his future. A woman like Sissi was totally not worthy of his love.

Shortly after Amelia had left the hospital, Eve and Kayla appeared outside the ICU together.

Eve had made Kayla accompany her all the time because she did not dare to tell the other family members about Patrick's car accident. She had also warned Connor to watch his mouth. If he dared to reveal any bit of the secret, she would punish him severely!

"Doctor, I've come to see my son. Please take us to change into the isolation gowns." Eve said.

The doctor inadvertently mentioned, "Um, I remember that a lady had just gone in to visit Mr. Patrick."

"Who is it?" Eve frowned.

The doctor replied, "She said she's Kayla. I saw her name on the list given by the director, so I let her in."

Kayla, who had heard it at the side, had her eyes slightly widened. She had roughly guessed who the imposter was.

Eve, who had also guessed it right, was scolding angrily, "Amelia is really a b*tch! How she could use someone else's name in breaking my ban to approach Patrick. She's indeed rubbish!"
