Amelia was amused by his words and burst into laughter. "Got it. I'll make the call right away."
Amelia recalled the numbers in her memory, she dialed the phone number of her house.
As soon as the phone was connected, there immediately came a female voice that sounded young but a little arrogant from the other side of the phone, "Hello, who is this?"
Amelia could not help frowning. It was fine for any other person to pick up the phone, but why must it be Brittany, who had always been at odds with her!
Amelia would normally just hang up the phone, but since she was in a special situation, she could only be patient and ask, "It's me. Is Aunt Alice at home?"
As soon as Amelia finished speaking, Brittany's voice rang out rudely, "Oh, so it's you. My mom is not at home right now, if you have anything to say, you can just say it to me."
"Brittany, we haven't seen each other for a few days and you seem to have became ill-mannered, huh?" Amelia could still remember when Sawyer strangled Brittany by her neck, she had been well behaved in the next few days. It had not been long yet she had become arrogant again. She had really not learnt from the lesson!
Brittany sneered and said, "Amelia, you used to be my elder sister so I'm generous enough not to haggle over many things with you. But now, I think we need to take a new look into our relationship."
Amelia asked confusedly, "What do you mean by that?"
Brittany avoided her question and asked casually, "Where are you having fun now? I haven't heard from you for a long time so I thought you were dead."
Although Amelia was angry, she quickly glanced at Patrick next to her and said what they had prepared previously, "I just came back from a business trip, and I'm now at the Land of Fragrance."
Brittany paused for a moment when she heard her mention "Land of Fragrance". Then, she started to mock her arrogantly, "Hmm, you're about to get into big trouble now yet you still think about your ex-husband?"
Amelia was confused and asked impatiently, "Brittany, what on earth are you trying to say?"
Brittany pretended to be profound and said, "It's not the time for you to know."
Amelia rolled her eyes. "Fine, I'll just take it as you're playing tricks on me."
"Nonsense!" Brittany was so angry that she wanted to say something, but she quickly realized and said, "Amelia, you don't have to provoke me as I won't be fooled. Do you have anything else to say? If not, I'll hang up."
"I have, don't hang up first," said Amelia, then she took the initiative to hang up the call which made Brittany so angry that she started to scream.
After Amelia hung up the call, she tried not to lose her temper but, she eventually could not stand it that she cursed, "Crazy."
Patrick, who heard it while standing next to her, asked with concern, "What happened?"
"I don't know either." Amelia held the phone in hand. She looked up and said, "Aunt Alice isn't home and it was Brittany who answered the phone. She said some strange words that I could hardly understand."
"What did she say?" Patrick's phone was totally soundproof that even though he stood close to Amelia, he could not hear what Brittany said to her.
Amelia frowned and recalled, "She said to take a new look into my relationship with her, and that I'm getting into big trouble. What does she mean by
saying that?"
Patrick's countenance darkened. How could he, as an outsider, understand the meaning of Brittany's words if Amelia had failed to do so?
At the moment, Amelia appeared to be frozen as she said, "Could it be that... something had happened to the company?"
"It could be." Patrick could not think of anything else that could bring trouble upon Amelia.
After Amelia heard Patrick who were almost affirming the guess, she felt nervous and hurriedly picked up the phone to call Audrey.
Audrey said that while she had ‘left for travelling as she was in a bad mood’, the company was fine under the management of Jonathan as each proposed plan had been carried out in an orderly manner, so Amelia could just enjoy her time without having to worry about it.
Moments later...
As Amelia put down the phone, Patrick asked timely, "Is there something wrong with the
Amelia shook her head gently. "No, Audrey said that the company is operating fine under the lead of Uncle Tucker and asked me not to worry."
Patrick relaxed and said. "Looks like Brittany is playing tricks on us."
Amelia nodded and said, "True, she might have just deliberately scared me out of nothing as she has always done so. As long as I am not happy, she will be happy."
Patrick's face turned cold. "She seemed to have not learned from the lesson I gave her last time. Perhaps it was not effective enough. I'll send someone to teach her a new one after we return home."
Amelia sighed and said, "Forget it. Old habits are hard to die. I used to reason with her because I had a glimmer of hope for her. But, I no longer bother about it as she is stubborn after all and it may even hurt Aunt Alice's heart in the end. So you don't have to bother as well, while it's also less appropriate for you to take care of my family affairs considering your current status."
Patrick said as to defend Amelia, "I can promise you that as long as Brittany doesn't do anything that would bring harm to you, I'll turn a blind eye to her. But if she does, I'll not mind to go on bad terms with Aunt Alice just to make her suffer!"
At The Ramsay's Mansion.
Brittany's eyes darkened when there was an undisguised smile on Alice’s face. Why could Amelia receive so much love when she was in fact a nobody?
After the distress, Brittany said, "She said that she has returned to Northville and is currently at Land of Fragrance."
Alice muttered, "Land of Fragrance? So she's with Patrick..."
Brittany tried to hint something, "That's right, she was eager to see her ex-husband as soon as she came back. So what's the point of their divorce?
They're just making things up."
Brittany secretly hinted that Amelia did not take Alice and the Ramsay Family seriously as she went to the Land of Fragrance instead of coming home to visit Alice right after returning to Northville.
On the other hand, Brittany was also hinting to Alice that Amelia did not take Alice's warning seriously as she had still met Patrick in private after the divorce!
However, time had changed and Alice no longer opposed Amelia to contact with Patrick. So after she heard Brittany's words, she immediately smiled
and said, "That's great."
Brittany was taken aback. "Mom, what's great?"
Alice said with joy, "It's great that Amelia went to Land of Fragrance to take care of Patrick. If they get to remarry one day, it will be even greater!"
Brittany was shocked!
Did her mother lose her memory? Did she not say that Patrick was a dangerous person that Amelia should avoid having contact with him?
Brittany could not help but asked as she felt that it was too strange, "Mom, didn't you say that it's now a sensitive period so she'd better not provoke Patrick for the sake of the reputation of both families and also her personal safety?"
Alice admitted, "I did say that, but I've misjudged Patrick at that time. I thought that he had only hatred but no love towards Amelia, but facts have proven that he cared about her very much. Since Amelia still has feelings for him as well, I no longer have any reason to stop them. After all, the two of you being able to live a happy life is what your father and I hope for the most."
"Facts have proven that Patrick cared for Amelia?" Brittany asked with her mind in a whirl, "Which fact to be exact?" "Uh..." Alice suddenly did not know how to reply.
Only a few knew about Patrick's car accident so far as it was most certain that the Hopper Family had blocked the news.
While unfortunately, her daughter had a big mouth and would get into trouble if it was spread out, so Alice only said it in vague, "It's a long story. But, you're impatient anyway, let's just forget it."
