"On one occasion, I realized that I had used up the massage oil which the boss claimed to be the best that the club could offer. The boss happened to not be around on that day. So, I habitually took the massage oil that I used to sell on normal days..." Jessica shut her eyes in time to suppress the surge of humiliation as pieces of memory struck her like a bullet train.
Amelia cleared her throat awkwardly. It was needless to say that Jessica was going to find out the ugly truth!
Jessica took a deep breath before she continued, "At the sight of the guy losing control again, I was certain that something was wrong. After all, he despised me. So, there was no way that he was willing to lay another finger on me. I thought of running out to ask for help, but he dislocated my jaw before I could even scream for help. Then, he threw me onto the bed ruthlessly and began assaulting me again! I swear that my first time with him was nowhere as brutal as the second. I even thought I was going to die in his hand."
Amelia could feel a shiver down her spine. She recalled those days when she was being imprisoned by Patrick at the castle. Hence, no other person could understand this better than she did about how it felt to be forced upon on the bed. However, dislocation of the jaw was beyond Amelia's perception. The guy was, undoubtedly, a pervert to be capable of being so brutal!
Jessica's expression turned as pale as a sheet when she recalled every piece of detail of the unpleasant past. She stuttered, "Had my colleagues not called my boss in time after noticing that I did not show up after an unreasonably long period of time, I guess I wouldn't survive from such abuse."
Jessica's voice was trembling fearfully as she spoke. Meeting with her flickering eyes, Amelia could tell that she was not exaggerating. So, she could not help but hold Jessica's hands even tighter.
Jessica took another deep breath before she went on, "I was already unconscious when my boss arrived. It was my colleagues who told me what happened after I lost consciousness. According to them, the boss instructed someone to break open the door and save me as soon as he returned to the club."
"My colleagues told me that I looked dreadfully miserable. Thanks to one of my colleagues, who was probably not new in handling scenes like this, she nursed my injuries skillfully before putting on clothes for me. I was then rushed to a hospital."
The corner of Amelia's mouth twitched unnoticeably as she listened to Jessica's story. No words could describe the level of her anger at this moment.
"I heard that the boss had a heated argument with the guy."
Amelia raised her eyebrow as she snorted, "Oh? Did he?"
Even if it was true, Amelia still thought that he was unforgivable. Had he come clean with the truth at first instant, Jessica would not have to suffer from such inhumane torture!
Plastering a bitter smile on her face, Jessica admitted, "While it was true that the boss was speaking for me, that was not the main reason he fought with that guy. More importantly, he was afraid that I would die in the club. In event that that happened and everyone learned of it, I bet no one would dare to visit his club again. He was not a fool to risk letting anyone ruin the reputation of his business."
Amelia pursed her lips, "I knew he was a selfish b*stard!"
"He was not too wicked, after all. He probably didn't foresee that the history would repeat itself. He thought he could help me out who almost lost my job during the first incident while retaining the secret of the massage oil to himself so long as no one pursued on that matter any further."
"Are you still defending him?!" Amelia could not help but raise her voice sharply. She then asked concerningly, "What happened afterwards? How was the condition of your jaw as well as other injuries?"
"When I finally regained consciousness in the hospital, my dislocated law was repositioned to its place. The remaining injuries were nursed too. It was the trauma after abuse that was not possible to get over with. Every inch of my body shrieked with soreness and reminded me of that horrible incident all the time. Amelia, I swear to you that at that time I didn't think that I could make it through."
Despite Jessica was whispering as she described her agony, Amelia could not help feeling the weight of her words, which suffocated her. At last, she fired the question that was bothering her all this while, "Who the h*ll was he?"
Jessica's eyes flickered but did not give away the answer that Amelia was longing for, "I'll answer that later."
Amelia had no other choice but to hold her horses.
"After that incident, I stopped working in the club. Firstly, I was too afraid to return to work. Secondly, I was embarrassed to face my colleagues. I was naked and in a total mess when I was saved. I had no idea how many people had seen me in that state..."
Jessica proceeded, "Although the misunderstanding was cleared up, I didn't feel like meeting that guy after what happened. Just as I turned him down politely with the excuse that I was feeling under the weather, I did not foresee that I would bump into him at the hostel when I came downstairs for lunch."
Jessica's tone was emotionless, but Amelia had the feeling that deep down, she reminisced the memory of him. It was then Jessica said, "I remember his grey woolen coat and the white sweater underneath. He was leaning against a sports car, which made him excessively eyecatching. Luckily, there weren't many students who stayed back in the hostel at that time. Otherwise, his presence would have attracted chaos."
Chaos?
Amelia seemed to be able to pick up two important messages from Jessica's words. Her inference was that either the guy was outstandingly gorgeous or that Jessica was probably blinded by love.
"Hold on!" Frowning, Amelia asked, "How did he manage to figure out which university you attended?"
"I signed an employment contract with the boss during my job interview. I remember that I filled in my personal details. He must have figured it out through that document."
"Oh, I see." Amelia then continued, "So, he came to apologize to you, am I right?"
Jessica heaved a sigh in melancholy before she replied, "I couldn't be sure if that could be regarded as an apology. He offered me a lump sum of money for me to forget about the incident."
Amelia certainly did not expect that things would turn out this way.
Jessica went on to say, "To be honest, I felt discomforted by his offer. However, it was undeniable that this was the most realistic solution that would ease my situation. I was in need of ten thousand dollars for the tuition fees of my next semester. Bearing that in mind, I decided to accept his apology."
