"That's enough! Shut your f*cking mouth!" Kaleb could feel his anger boiling underneath his veins. At this moment, he finally understood that one should never underestimate what a woman was capable of when she was blinded with hatred. He would never expect that his sugar- coated promises back then would end up becoming the murder weapon of his own death!
Kaleb turned her down decisively, "I don't have four million dollar!"
Nevertheless, his rejection did not render Yancie to cave in. "That's impossible! You had just resold the property. You can't possible spend all the money in such short period of time!"
Kaleb's eyes flickered as he replied, "That property does not worth four million dollar!"
Yancie exposed his lie ruthlessly. "Are you still trying to fool me? I've talked to the new owner. He told me that the property worth approximately four point six million dollar. At last he managed to strike the deal at four point five million dollar with you. Strictly speaking, there's a total of five hundred thousand dollar short from the amount I demanded from you!"
Kaleb could not help clenching his fists secretly at his back. He had indeed underestimated the woman in front of him. He probably did not expect that Yancie would have done her homework before she came.
Nevertheless, the problem was that the sale money had been spent on bribing the shareholders. There was no way that he could raise fund of another four million dollar to pay her off.
"Yancie, can't you be more practical?"
Yancie sneered, "If you can't think of a way out, I have another proposal for you."
"Say it!"
"I remember that you had another two mistresses other than me. Why not you sell off the houses that they are currently staying in? Sale money of two properties is more than enough. As soon as you get me the amount that I asked for, I promise you that I will disappear from your sight forever together with all the evidences of the dirt I got on you!"
With his expression darkening, Kaleb questioned, "How can I trust that you'll keep your words?"
"You have no other options but to trust me now." Getting up from her seat, Yancie grabbed her handbag gracefully. She did not bother to look at the phone which had been shattered on the floor. She gestured a flying kiss flirtatiously before she teased, "Remember to contact me when you get the money ready. I'll miss you, darling..."
"F*ck off!" Kaleb could hear the sound of his knuckles cracking as he clenched his fists tighter than ever. He wanted no more than throwing his fists at her evil face.
However, Yancie would not give him another chance of hurting her. She vanished from his sight in the blink of an eye, leaving Kaleb to freeze on his feet like a statute.
A few moments later, he suddenly gave the coffee table a forceful kick. As a result, everything on the table began falling onto the floor and shattering into pieces.
Brittany who had been overhearing the conversation that they exchanged in her room, could not help but gloat.
On the other hand, Fiona too had been paying attention to the commotion at the hall. Feeling unnerved, she wandered in the room restlessly. She was so fearful at this moment to the extent that she did not even realize that she accidentally knocked her knee onto the footboard of her bed.
"What should I do now? Someone please tell me what should I do. Kaleb is pissed off now. Should I go out from the room now?"
"What if he were to vent his anger at me and beat me up as soon as I go out?"
"But if I don't show myself up, Kaleb may use this against me and find my problems too! Either way he'll punish me!"
Just as Fiona got so carried away by her dilemma, little did she know that Kaleb had already put on his leather shoes and left the house with his car key.
The next day.
The curtains in the bedroom were not pulled together closely. That was why the ray of sunlight in the early morning fell onto the pair of love birds on the bed.
Amelia was sleeping comfortably on Patrick's sturdy arm. Holding Amelia, Patrick rest his sharp jaw on her silky black hair. Both of them made up a lovely and harmony couple.
By the time Amelia woke up, the first thing that fell into her sight was that Patrick was staring at her affectionately.
She rubbed her sleepy eyes sheepishly as she noticed his stare. She then greeted grumpily, "Good morning, Mr. Hopper."
Patrick greeted back smilingly, "Good morning, my dear Amy."
Amelia asked, "When did you wake up?"
"A while ago."
Amelia had been held tightly by him. There was no way that she could turn around and look at the clock on the cabinet of the bed. She had no other choice but to ask, "What's the time now?"
Patrick could see the time from his angle clearly. "It's eight o'clock."
"Oh. We should wake up now. Don't forget that we agreed to meet Nora at nine." With that said, she reached out to shove the hand that was wrapping around her waist.
Instead of letting her go, Patrick pulled her back and said, "That's fine. We can still make it in time. You can sleep back and I'll wake you up in another while."
Amelia struggled to wake up. "No, I'm fine. Let's get up."
Patrick looked at her amusingly. "Are you sure?"
"Mm. Of course I am." She could not help but wonder if it was because of her pregnancy that resulted in her getting lazier than ever these days.
"Do you need me to delay the boarding time?"
Amelia shook her head disapprovingly. "You're going to spoil me."
Patrick smiled crookedly. "I'm more than willing to do so."
"But I'm not willing to become your spoilt brat."
Patrick joked around, "Oh? Are you sure?"
"Stop making fun of me. Hurry. We should wake up now." Amelia shoved his chest as she said.
Patrick took the chance to kiss her for another moment before he got down from the bed satisfactorily.
Amelia trotted across the pebbled pathway and opened the gate at the garden. Smiling, she greeted Nora before reaching out a hand to Ashley. "My dear deliveryman, where's my hamster?" "Here you go!" Pouting, Ashley's chubby face became rounder than ever. Coupled with her pair of puppy- dog eyes, she indeed looked like a hamster at this moment. At the sight of this, Amelia could not help but pinch her cheeks.
She then threw a glance at Andrew smilingly.
At the sight of Amelia looking at his direction, Andrew flashed a bashful smile as he greeted politely, "Hello, Aunty."
"You look handsome today, Andrew." Amelia's hand fell on his head and began tossing his hair.
By the time both children had done playing with Amelia, it was only then Nora said, "Amelia, I guess we've arrived earlier than expected. Is that fine for you and Patrick?"
Amelia hurriedly said, "No worries, Nora. By the way, I thought we're supposed to meet you at your house."
"It's all because of the two of them." Nora glanced at Andrew and Ashley before she sighed, "Knowing that we are departing for a trip today with both of you, they were so excited that they barely slept last night. They had been jumping up and down at home. I had no other choice but to bring them over earlier. Look, they finally behave as soon as they see you."
Amelia burst out laughing. "Come inside the house then. We still have tons of time before boarding."
Nora nodded. "Sure."
"Aunty." With her eyes sparkled with hope, Ashley asked girlishly, "Can you make breakfast for me?" "Surely can!"
It was at this time when Andrew whispered, "Ashley, didn't we have breakfast at home before we came?"
Rubbing her tummy, Ashley replied, "That's right. But Aunty cooks so much better than Mommy does."
Andrew's eyes widened in surprise at Ashley's blatant honesty. After all, their mother was just standing by their side!
Amelia was so close to them that she could overhear their conversation clearly. She thought of saying something to defend Nora. The truth was Nora did not get offended by what the children said. She admitted, "Honestly speaking, I find my cooking skills unsatisfactory ever since I got to enjoy the meal you prepared for us, Amelia."
Amelia found the corner of her lips twitching. She decided that it would be best for her not to make any comments.
When the four of them entered into the mansion, Nora did not bring the luggage along inside but merely leave it outside the garden. After all, the entire place was an upmarket residence, not to mention that there was security guards patrolling all the time. She needed not to worry that her luggage would be stolen.
On the other hand, Patrick who had done washing up himself in the bathroom, came out looking for Amelia.
When he came to the hallway, it just so happened that he heard a conversation ongoing downstairs. Looking at the direction where the noise came from, it was only then he saw Nora as well as the twins following after Amelia.
It was as if there was a telepathic spark ongoing among the two love birds. All in a sudden Amelia looked up at his direction. Consequently, both their eyes met in the air. It was Patrick who cracked a breathtaking smile. Time stood still for a second and Amelia could not help getting swept away by butterflies in her stomach.
Blushing, she hurriedly looked away. She turned around and cleared her throat before she said, "Um... He's there upstairs."
The three of them immediately looked up. All they could see was Patrick leaning over the rails and waving at them idly.
