Amelia said, "There's even more. Previously, I asked Milton to design advertisements for the Apex Construction Corporation, but the details haven't been out yet. I think it's time to make a stop. I've also dealt with several other businesses, but it seems that I can just ignore them now."
Patrick finally understood. "Amy, are you trying to destroy the Apex Construction Corporation?"
"I've thought of it recently. It's the only way for Apex to survive. Do you know why Kaleb is so devoted to Apex? It's precisely because it's valuable for the time being. When all the benefits are gone, will he still be willing to look after an empty building?" Amelia said and glanced at Patrick. "What do you think, Mr. Hopper?"
Patrick thought for a moment and said, "Your idea sounds risky, but I have to admit that it does make sense."
"That's it. We don't have to worry about what will happen next. Just wait and see." After saying that, Amelia straightened up from the sofa and stretched out, saying, "Mr. Hopper, I'm sleepy."
Looking at her delicate posture, Patrick found her completely different from the state when she had analyzed everything clearly. The lady could be tough and sometimes soft. And he could not help being obsessed with her.
At Kaleb's place.
As soon as Brittany entered the house, she heard Kaleb's mocking voice from the living room. "Oh my dear, you're finally back."
Brittany's breathing tensed up. It was only three o'clock, and Kaleb should be at work. Why would he suddenly be back home?
She subconsciously glanced at Fiona and saw a handprint on her face. She had obviously just been punished.
"Come with me." Fiona gave her a numb response and led Brittany into the living room.
Brittany walked up to Kaleb. Although she hated him from the bottom of her heart, she still had to greet him respectfully. "Uncle."
Kaleb glanced at her and asked in confusion, "Where have you been?"
Brittany gulped and tried her best to remain calm. "I went to buy some food."
"Where's the food?" Kaleb looked at her empty hands.
Brittany replied diffidently, "I've finished it when I was on the way back..." "Have you finished all of it? Why didn't you bring some for your aunt?" Kaleb looked at Fiona behind Brittany with a faint smile.
Seeing Kaleb's evil smile, Fiona went weak at her knees that she knelt on the ground subconsciously.
Brittany's heart sank as she saw it. Should she kneel down as well?
No! She also had Kaleb's secret in hand. There was no need for her to grovel in front of him!
After gaining confidence for herself, Brittany said, "I forgot. I'll remember to bring some for you and aunt next time."
"Are you actually wishing for a next time out?" Kaleb shot Brittany a look and stood up. He walked to Fiona and kicked her on the shoulder. He asked dangerously, "Fiona, will you spare her a chance to go out next time?"
Fiona covered her shoulder with her hand and said painfully, "No, no! I will never do that again!"
Brittany watched the scene coldly. Although Fiona was punished all because of her, she was on Kaleb's side after all. So even if she was beaten to death, she would not feel sorry for her.
After teaching Fiona a lesson, Kaleb turned to look at Brittany and said, "Brittany, you should not go out from tomorrow onwards."
Brittany suddenly got nervous and tried to negotiate with him. "But, if I don't go out, how am I supposed to help you to persuade Derrick?"
Kaleb hesitated, then said, "You're not allowed to go out without my permission."
Brittany thought that it was still acceptable as long as she could get out!
Seeing that Brittany was lost in thought, Kaleb sneered. "If I find out that you sneaked out again, don't blame me for turning against you!"
Brittany could not bear it any longer and said, "Kaleb, don't push the limits. I still have all your information with me! If you push me too far, we can just perish together!"
Kaleb said calmly, "Sure, I'll spread your video on the Internet now while you may send my information to the company. Let's move on then..."
Seeing that Kaleb was really taking action, Brittany immediately panicked and came forward to stop him. "Shall we both calm down for a moment?"
"Oh Brittany, you really shouldn't look down on me. At worst, I'll risk my position as the director. As for you..." Kaleb looked at her with some contempt. "I can't guarantee how you would be seen by the public."
Brittany forced a smile and said, "I'm sorry, Uncle... I shouldn't have acted on impulse. Please don't expose the video, okay?"
Kaleb reached out and patted her head. "It depends on whether you listen to me well or not."
"No doubt... I will do as you say!" Brittany smiled, but tears streamed down her cheeks.
Kaleb pretended to look at her worriedly. "Oh dear, why are you crying? Were my words too harsh for you to handle?"
Brittany had even wanted to tear Kaleb into pieces. But under the pressure of the exposure of the video, she could only say fawningly, "Of course not, you're right whatever you say!"
The two guests were Mr. and Mrs. Kennedy.
In order to save Pablo, they sold all their assets. Their expensive suits and dresses were all replaced by something off-the-rack. Their faces looked worn and tired.
Shocked by Patrick's unfriendly tone, Kinsley hurriedly explained, "Mr. Patrick, I'm sorry! We went to the company to look for you but were told that you were in a meeting. We were afraid that we might disturb you if we call, so we... we came here to wait for you."
"Yes, Mr. Patrick, we mean no harm!" Mrs.
Kennedy added.
Amelia could not help but say to Patrick as she was holding two glasses of water from the kitchen, "Mr. Hopper, I'll take the blame since I was the one who let them in."
Patrick walked to her and snatched the glasses from her hands. He asked, "Amy, why are you so polite to them? Have you forgotten what Pablo did to you?"
"Pablo can be responsible for his own actions, while I see them differently." Amelia blinked at him.
Patrick secretly cursed. Then he turned and put the glasses in front of the couple.
After saying thanks hurriedly, Kinsley took out a cheque and carefully sent it to Patrick. "Mr. Patrick, this is what we agreed before. Please check it out."
Patrick looked up, simply took the cheque and glanced at it. He then threw it on the tea table.
The couple was frightened by his actions. They could not tell if he was satisfied or not.
After the husband and wife exchanged a look, Kinsley was still the one who spoke, "Well... Mr. Patrick, this is all we have. To tell you the truth, we even borrowed a usury in order to save our son. We have done everything we could do. So please show mercy and set my son free!"
It had been almost a month. No matter how pissed Kinsley had been, his anger was gone. All he wanted was to see his son and to make sure he was fine.
"Why are you so nervous? I've never said not to let him go." After admiring enough of their uneasiness, Patrick finally replied, "Okay, I'll take the cheque. I'll immediately let Owen send him back to you. You should be relieved now, right?"
The Kinsley couple could not help but cry with joy. But in fact, they had gained nothing more yet had lost a lot.
After the couple left, Amelia asked with concern, "Mr. Hopper, once they receive the corpse of Pablo, will they...?"
Patrick floated his lips and said, "Don't worry, I'll send some men to keep an eye on them in advance. Even if they want to take revenge, they won't be able to do anything!"
