Come To Me (Amelia and Patrick) novel Chapter 1605

Maryanne and Hobart sat side by side at the back of the car. Maryanne took the time to look at the rearview mirror and saw Milton's faint expression. He did not reveal any displeasure.

he pursed her lips when she saw this and turned to ask Hobart, "Hobart, are we going back to our parents' house?"

"Yes," Hobart replied with a smile. "They miss you a lot."

But Maryanne did not feel good when she heard that. In fact, when she was in England, she contacted her brother the most, not her parents.

The reason was simple. Her brother often joked around with her so that she would not feel homesick so much. Unlike her parents, they would always ask her when she was coming back whenever they spoke, which upset Maryanne.

Meanwhile, Hobart pushed the front seat and said, "Hey, our house's address is on the GPS. After you leave the highway, follow the navigation, do you understand?"

His tone showed that he was completely regarding Milton as his driver.

Maryanne could not help but shoot a look at

Hobart as she warned him to hold back.

Unexpectedly, Hobart not only did not restrain himself but shoved the front seat rudely, as if the car did not belong to him. "Hey, do you hear me? Why don't you reply? Are you mute?"

Maryanne could not stand it any longer and glower at him. "Hobart, Milton is driving. What if something happens because you're disrupting him? Are you here to pick us up, or are you here to hurt us?"

Since hs sister was genuinely maddened, Hobart loosened his grip on Milton's seat and returned to his own. "I wasn't doing that on purpose. I just hate mutes."

Not again!

Maryanne stared at Hobart fiercely, desperately wanting him to shut up.

She then raised her gaze at the rearview mirror to check Milton's reaction. However, in the next second, Hobart covered her eyes with his palm so that she could not see anything.

"Hobart!" Maryanne spent a long time prying Hobart's hand from her eyes. She was met with Hobart's playful smile tugging at the corner of his lips, which irked her, but she could not do anything about it. After all, they had played with each other that way growing up.

"That's enough. Look at the sweat on your forehead." It was not easy for Maryanne to claw off Hobart's hand. Hobart then wiped her sweat away with his finger with care.

"It's all because of you!" Maryanne complained. But in the next second, Hobart pressed on the back of her head and leaned her face onto his shoulder. The alluring scent on his suit was, indeed, in line with his identity as an experienced lover.

Maryanne laughed softly as she thought about it. Time had passed and she had changed. But her brother was still the same.

Hobart's hand, which was pressing onto Maryanne's head, spread out and gently combed her curly hair. As for his eyes, he made eye contact with Milton in the rearview mirror while he said meaningfully, "Someone does care about you, you know."

Milton's eyes darkened at this. Hobart was directing that at him.

As for Maryanne, when she heard Hobart, she felt stuffy in her chest. In the past, she enjoyed the care from the Home of Smith in Northville and felt that everything was a matter of fact.

It was only after that incident that she realized not everyone was obligated to be good to her. She had paid a heavy price for her willfulness, and if Hobart knew that she had once pushed Amelia downstairs, would he still treat her this well?

Thinking of this, Maryanne hugged Hobart's waist a little fearfully and called out softly, "Hobart..."

Hobart looked down at Maryanne and saw that her eyes had reddened. He placed his other hand on her eyelids and said lightly, "I knew with one look that you didn't rest well. Close your eyes and take a nap. I'll call you when we get home."

Sigh.

Maryanne sighed inaudibly. She decided that she would stop thinking about those upsetting matters and shut her eyes obediently. Then, she leaned against Hobart and fell asleep.

Watching this, Milton tore his gaze from the rearview mirror and drove with his focus on the road.

At the same time, at Land of Fragrance.

After a few peaceful days, four people who claimed to be from the Simmons family came to pay Amelia a surprise visit.

In this regard, Amelia's first reaction was to call Derrick and ask him if he knew the four who were outside the fence.

After listening to Amelia's description, Derrick went silent for a moment before saying, "That's my sister and her husband with their two children. I didn't know they would go to your house and harass you. I'll come over now. Tell them to wait for me."

"Okay!" Amelia readily agreed.

Watching Rebecca's expression as if she was facing a formidable enemy, Amelia did not know whether she should be offended or amused. She then said, "Ms. Simmons, don't refute my words so quickly. I admit that when Mr. Simmons first came here, he was, indeed, trying to take me down from the position of acting director and take back the shares.

"However, after learning the truth of my mother's suicide, he changed his mind. He felt that he owed his daughter, so he decided to respect his daughter's wishes and leave the shares to me."

"But I have never thought about pocketing the assets that didn't belong to me. I told Mr. Simmons that I was willing to return all the shares. But he has still yet to come to me with the share ownership transfer agreement."

Amelia's words confused Rebecca and her family. The truth behind the suicide? What was Amelia saying? They could not understand a word.

Noticing this, Amelia justified in George and Alice's stead, "My mum did not commit suicide because of my father and Aunt Alice. It was the result of Mr. Simmons' years of overbearing pressure and scolding in the past."

Rebecca frowned and responded with great displeasure, "You're truly like what Brittany has told me. You have a sharp tongue that can stir people up. But do you think we'll believe in you?"

Amelia only smiled and returned, "You can choose to not believe me, but you should believe Mr. Simmons, right?"

Just as her voice fell, the doorbell rang. Amelia got up and said, "It should be Mr. Simmons. Excuse me."

When Rebecca and the others heard that the head of the Simmons family had arrived, they stood up and followed Amelia to the entrance to invite Derrick.

Derrick was outside the fence, appearing quite anxious. He was worried that Rebecca and her family would do something inappropriate.

So, Derrick breathed a sigh of relief when he saw Amelia opening the door in perfect condition.

"Mr. Simmons," Amelia opened the fence and greeted Derrick.

Derrick replied with a hum, but he was not in a hurry to enter the house. Instead, he looked at the four behind Amelia and asked unhappily, "What are you lot doing here?"

Rebecca stepped forward and answered, "Derrick, we're here to..."

"Go home!" Contrary to the family's expectations, Derrick had asked them to go back.

Rebecca was stunned. After a while, she murmured, "Derrick...what...what's wrong with you? Are you in trouble? We're here to help you!"
