Come To Me (Amelia and Patrick) novel Chapter 1647

Owen investigated rapidly. As soon as he ended his call with Patrick, he ordered his men to check on Yancie's transactions in all the banks.

He found that Yancie had not taken a single penny from the bank recently. If she was to flee, could she have done it without withdrawing any of the money?

They also found that Yancie had appeared with Kaleb by looking at footage from a surveillance camera of an ATM in Northville.

In the footage, Kaleb handed a bank card to Yancie, and Yancie conducted a password verification. But there was no record of cash withdrawal from that time.

Since it was a police investigation, the bank cooperated and gave them the detail of the card. It turned out that the card was registered under Kaleb's name, and there was a total of 4 million USD in the account.

This matched what Brittany said about the blackmail that Yancie extorted from Kaleb.

What was strange was that, after that day, Kaleb took the same card to the bank counter and asked the clerk to transfer the 4 million USD into other bank accounts separately.

Owen then immediately ordered the person in charge of the bank to make a list of the names of the accounts before Owen went to Patrick with the list.

At Land of Fragrance.

"What? Owen is coming?" Amelia was shocked as she did not prepare enough dinner. If Owen came later, what should she serve him?

Patrick replied casually, "It's fine. Owen won't care too much about that. Besides, he may have eaten already."

Amelia frowned. "How can that be? Judging from the call, Owen must have worked all day investigating Yancie's case. He works so hard in this case, and I'm the largest beneficiary. How can I not treat him well?"

"Then, let's prepare some noodles for him." Patrick did not seem to understand the meaning of 'treating Owen well'. He then rubbed Amelia's shoulders and said, "Sit down. I'll cook."

Amelia grabbed his hand and said, "Is a bowl of noodles enough? Let's order takeout. Um... Order something that Owen likes to eat!"

Patrick pinched her nose and replied as he heard her words, "I know you care about Owen."

"I care about everyone," Amelia answered sweetly.

"But I care about you the most."

After they ordered the takeout, Patrick waved his phone to Amelia and said, "Okay. The restaurant says the food will arrive in half an hour. Are you rest assured now?"

"With you in charge, of course, I am," Amelia then flashed him a satisfied smile.

Half an hour later.

The delivery staff arrived before Owen did.

When Owen saw the table full of delicacies, Owen looked at Patrick and Amelia, dumbfounded. "Did you two already know that I was coming earlier in the day, or were you having other guests? Why did you prepare so much food?"

"It's all Amy," answered Patrick. "She's worried about how you've been working the whole day. So, when she found out that you were coming, she asked me to order you some food. What do you think, Owen? It's worth the trip, isn't it?"

"Of... Of course!" Owen rubbed his hands together. "I feel so hungry after seeing this feast. I'm going to wash my hands. I'll be having dinner here tonight!"

Before they ate, Owen called Nora and told her that he was having dinner with Patrick and Amelia. Nora agreed immediately.

Patrick looked at Owen, who lowered his phone, and said jokingly, "Owen, you're still henpecked."

Owen rolled his eyes at Patrick. "This is called respect! If I don't call her, what if she gets worried?"

Then Owen said to Amelia, "Amelia, don't listen to him. At home, my words still hold weight."

Amelia suppressed her laughter. It was all fine if Owen did not explain it, for his explanation solidified the claim of him being afraid of his wife.

After dinner.

After Patrick and Amelia cleaned up the pots and pans, they came to the living room and sat opposite Owen.

Owen then handed the couple the compiled information and told them about all the clues he had found.

When Amelia heard that Kaleb had transferred the 4 million USD to other accounts, she glanced at the name list in her hand. Then, she widened her eyes and cried out in a low voice, "I know all the names who received the money!"

Patrick and Owen quickly shot a look at her.

Amelia presented the list in front of them and exclaimed, "These people are from the neutral party of Apex Construction Corporation!"

Patrick skimmed the list and found it was indeed true.

"What do you mean by the neutral party?" Owen looked at the two in confusion.

Patrick then explained to Owen the cause and effect of Amelia's dismissal.

"Hey, I bought it for you, right? What's wrong with me wanting to have a look?"

Fiona secretly glimpsed at Kaleb's fists and pleaded, "You just want to have a look?" "Of course! I don't need your money! Think about my current status as the acting director of Apex Construction Corporation!" Kaleb announced proudly.

"All right then..." Fiona knew that she would suffer losses if they continued to be in this stalemate, and she would rather believe in Kaleb so that she would not suffer.

When Fiona retrieved the jewellery box that was locked away in a drawer, Kaleb's beady eyes lit up with joy. Kaleb was so excited that he almost pounced to grab it.

"Here it is," Fiona carefully placed the jewellery box on the table and said to Kaleb.

Kaleb opened the box and found the set of jewellery he gifted Fiona back then. This set of accessories had to be worth at least 200,000 USD!

"Are... Are you done looking at it?" Fiona asked timidly.

"Yup. You can put it away now," Kaleb looked away from the jewellery and told Fiona.

Fiona immediately let out a sigh of relief. She turned around, put the box back in the drawer, and locked it again.

At this, Kaleb smiled and said, "No wonder this drawer remained locked for so many years. You were using it to hide your valuable belongings."

"No!" Fiona fiddled with her hands and replied, "This set of jewellery is for me to help in case of anything that might happen to you and our son."

Kaleb was caught speechless, then he said hypocritically, "Fiona, I've wronged you for so many years. Don't worry. I'll make sure you live a good life."

Fiona pursed her parched lips and hummed in reply hopelessly.

A few days later.

While Amelia was bored out of her mind at home, she suddenly received a phone call from Patrick saying that Kaleb was arrested at the airport in Northville after sieving funds from Apex Construction Corporation for 100 million USD!

It was reported that Kaleb had booked a flight to the UK. But unfortunately, he could not depart anymore.

"Wait, wait! Kaleb took 100 million USD from the company and tried to escape? What is his intention?" Amelia asked in a rush.

"Well, we have to wait for him to confess. It seems that Owen is right about finding someone to monitor Kaleb, or he would have slipped away," Patrick said from the other side of the phone.

"Even if he leaves, I believe that you and Owen have a way to get him back," Amelia replied and suddenly chuckled. "This time, Kaleb is definitely guilty of misappropriation of the company's funds. He's going to have to serve time, no matter what."
