Come To Me (Amelia and Patrick) novel Chapter 1653

"Amy." Patrick hung up the phone and put down the design blueprint at the same time. He then looked at Amelia and continued, "Did you hear that? They found Yancie's body."

"Who called?" Amelia's attention then fell to his phone.

"Owen."

Amelia replied, "At last." Reckoned the time, they had tried to track down Yancie's whereabouts for half a month at this point.

Patrick nodded. "It's great that they've finally found Yancie. It turns out that she hasn't been anywhere and has always been in Northville. Her corpse was found in a river."

Amelia pondered for a moment before she said, "A clear-minded, normal person doesn't fall into the river unless it's an accident, isn't that right?"

Then, Amelia continued, "If she was in the river, how did Owen find her?"

Patrick explained, "To be exact, Owen did not find the body. A fisherman found a suitcase in his fishing net when he was fishing in the river. Out of curiosity, he opened it, which he then found the corpse. He immediately reported to the police after that. After forensic identification, they found that it was Yancie Cabeza."

Amelia gasped in horror as she heard this, "Oh my god! Are you saying that Yancie was stuffed in a suitcase and thrown into the river?"

"Yes. There are many serious injuries to Yancie's body. Furthermore, the body was swollen and rotten. And the truth surfaced under the autopsy from the forensic experts. Yancie's cause of death was a homicide," Patrick stated.

"Is Kaleb the murderer?" Amelia asked in a trembling voice.

At the thought that such a horrifying person had been lingering around her, Amelia could not help but put her hand to her belly. She then thought, "Fortunately, I gave up the acting director's position. Otherwise, Kaleb might have taken mine and the baby's lives as well."

Patrick sensed Amelia's fear, so he reached out to hold her shoulders and comforted her, "I also think that he's the murderer. But we have to wait for Owen's investigation to come to a conclusion. If it's really him, you don't have to be afraid because it means his time is ticking."

He was right.

Amelia's stiffened shoulders relaxed. She looked at Patrick and said, "Mr. Hopper, I'm going downstairs for a glass of juice. Do you want one too? Or do you prefer coffee?"

"I'll have coffee. Sorry to trouble you." After Patrick pecked her forehead, he let go of Amelia so that she could get up and leave the study.

He knew that she was heading out to get some fresh air to change her mood, so he did not stop her.

All of a sudden, Patrick was glad that he had taken Amelia's suggestion. He had allowed Kaleb to reach the pinnacle of his life and defeated him once again. If Patrick had acted according to his previous plan, he would have spent a lot of money to bribe the neutral parties and used them to dismiss Kaleb's position as the acting director. However, in this way, Kaleb might have caused harm to Amy from the provocation, which Patrick would never want to happen.

After gently closing the door, Amelia faced the corridor and patted her face. Then, she headed downstairs and went to the kitchen.

After she poured herself a cup of orange juice, she made a cup of coffee for Patrick. She then put it on a tray and brought it to the study.

After doing these, Amelia finally calmed down. Regardless of whether Kaleb was the murderer, he had been imprisoned in a cell. What awaited him would be the severe punishment by law.

At the police station.

While Owen looked at Kaleb, who had lost much weight in just a week, Owen said in a cold voice, "A few days ago, I went to your house to visit your wife. She said she's more than happy to testify in court. She also said that you kept mistresses, formed a conspiracy for illegal activities, and more."

Kaleb, who knew nothing about the discovery of Yancie's body, stubbornly resisted, "Officer Hopper, I don't know what you're talking about!"

This was the sentence Kaleb claimed the most during this period. After all, ignorance was innocent.

Moreover, Kaleb did not think that Fiona, that coward, would dare to betray him. He was the only support for his family. So, if anything happened to Kaleb, not to mention Fiona, their son, who was studying abroad, would be doomed as well. Presumably, Owen had made this up to disrupt Kaleb's plan. Hmph! He would not fall for it.

"Do you know why she's willing to testify the court?" Owen crossed his arms then answered himself, "She gave up on you because you stole from her a set of jewellery before you tried to abscond out of the country."

Kaleb felt anxious with this. Owen knew about the jewellery? Did he actually go to see Fiona? Did Fiona also reveal other information to him?

"Your wife said that she doesn't care that you've kept mistresses, and she could forget that your abuse to her. But the jewellery is her emergency funds, the only one she has," Owen emphasized.

Kaleb ground his teeth. That b*tch! She was going all out against him for just a set of jewellery!

"Now, we have a witness and physical evidence. Kaleb Ramsay, what a failed life you're living. Even your wife doesn't want to help you." It was rare for Owen to smile at Kaleb, but his eyes continued to be full of indifference.

Owen's smile crept Kaleb out. Kaleb's intuition told him that things were not that simple, so he tried to absolve himself, "Officer Hopper, listen to my explanation. I did take that set of jewellery, but I was the one who bought it! Why can't I handle my own belongings?"

Kaleb felt as if the air in his lungs was hollowed out, which caused his face to turn ashen. An alarm was blaring in his head, and he could not force out even a word to reply Owen!

Owen observed Kaleb's reaction and continued to ask with concern, "Why did you react so drastically? Do you know the person in the photo? Oh no, I mean the 'corpse' in the photo."

Kaleb finally spoke, even though his voice was hoarse, "I... I was just shocked by what I saw..." "Is that so?" Owen would not allow Kaleb to sidestep his question. "You haven't answered me yet. Do you recognize the corpse?"

"Of course, I don't know! I can't even see the face clearly!" Kaleb shook the photo in his hand while fear and rage mingled on his face.

Indeed, before Yancie's death, Kaleb had badly mangled Yancie's body with a hammer, not to mention that she had been soaking in the river for so many days. Her face had long been disfigured beyond recognition.

However, Kaleb's intense reaction did not escape the eyes of the experienced Owen. Owen could almost conclude that Kaleb had full responsibility for Yancie's death. What Owen had to figure out next was whether Kaleb did it himself or hired a hitman!

Owen, who had made up his mind, continued, "Kaleb Ramsay, I have unfortunate news. Your lover is dead."

Kaleb was stunned for a moment before he revealed an exaggerated expression of shock. "What? Yancie is dead?!"

Owen admired Kaleb's acting skills but doubted his intelligence. "I remember that you have more than one lover. To be precise, you had three.

However, when I said that your lover had died, you said Yancie on a whim. You seem to know very well that she was dead."

Kaleb was struck speechless. He felt dizzy and did not know how to answer Owen's question.

Suddenly, a thought flashed through Kaleb's mind. "Officer Hopper, didn't you say that Yancie was missing? I was only wondering... if she was the one who died."

In this regard, Owen did not deny it. "Well, she was murdered, and the bank card with 4 million USD is with you. I wonder if the card has legs since it knows how to run back to its original owner."

Kaleb fell silent.

Owen continued his assumption as he saw the dramatic change in Kaleb's expression. "Or did you find the bank card in Yancie's rental house after murdering her? After that, did you then settle the distribution of the 4 million USD?"
