An hour later...
Amelia once again appeared in front of Sawyer while he had also calmed himself down. "Dinner's ready?"
"Yeap. I'm here to invite you." Amelia smiled.
Sawyer nodded, stood up and followed her to the dining table.
On the way, Amelia glanced at his black shirt, wondering if the man was guarding against her little tricks? As unlike white colour, black colour would be less easy to be left with ambiguous traces.
But it was useless. From the moment he had kidnapped her, such situation was doomed to be.
Sissi had once been cherished by two outstanding men. So she was extremely proud and confident of herself. Could she tolerate the presence of another woman by Sawyer's side?
That was impossible! Especially when the woman was Amelia. With Patrick as the former reminder, Sissi would only think that it was her who had bewitched Sawyer. She might even be thinking of how to go against her at the moment.
Meanwhile, Sawyer had acted to be in deep family affection in front of her, which worsened his contradiction with Sissi. So there would undoubtedly be a war against them later.
At the moment, Sawyer came to see three dishes and one soup, being two dishes less than what he had prepared the last time.
Noticing the subtle change in his expression, Amelia explained, "Don't get me wrong. I'm not trying to be lazy. But there were too many leftovers last time, and I'm not used to such a waste of food."
Sawyer could not help but be reminded of Sissi, who had wantonly trampled on the blue roses he gifted. His eyes darkened as he said in a deep voice, "It's right not to waste."
The smile on Amelia could not help but deepen with his words. After they sat down respectively, she was not in a hurry to dig in. Instead, she stared at him.
Sawyer understood her meaning and raised his spoon to reach for one of the dishes. He picked it up and sent it into his mouth. He was not worried at all about Amelia poisoning the food. As the chefs in the kitchen would all keep an eye on her.
"How is it? Is it delicious?"
No matter how picky Sawyer was, he was satisfied with Amelia's cooking skills as she had been experienced for years. "Mm, not bad."
"Then eat more!" Amelia was so excited that she picked a piece of rib for him. When it was sent into Sawyer's bowl, she then asked with hindsight, "Ah... my fork hasn't been used yet, you don't mind, right?"
Sawyer stared at her embarrassed expression and lightly shook his head. "Even if you've used it, it's no big deal."
So Amelia's voice returned to be cheerful again. "Since you don't mind, we can try hot pot next time. By the way, can you eat spicy food?"
The current meal was still on-going, yet she had already begun to plan for the next meal.
Sawyer frowned, "Hot pot for summer?"
"Yes, hot pot is also allowed in summer. But it's better to have vegetables as the main and meat as the side. Otherwise we might fall sick." Amelia sounded like an experienced.
Sawyer thought it sounded interesting and said, "Up to you, I can accept normal spicy food."
Amelia said caringly, "Then I'd better ask the cook to prepare a double-flavour hot pot. In case you can't stand the spiciness later."
Sawyer's heart was filled with mixed emotions as he heard that.
In his entire life, he had only had close contact with five women. One was Amelia, and the other four were Ruth, Savannah, Sissi and Jessica.
Among the four, the first two were elders, who had taken care of him out of their care for the younger. So it was impossible for him to have any strange feelings forthem.
While the later two women had physical contact with him. But both of them were not good at cooking, nor were they interested in cleaning up the house. To a great extent, it was him who took care of them in the two aspects.
In this way, only Amelia's performance in the two aspects was remarkable.
Sawyer still remembered that every time before she left the library, she would always put the books back on the bookshelf and bring along the ceramic cup she had used.
After the meal, Sawyer was not in a hurry to leave. While it was already dark outside, Amelia could almost imagine Sissi's reaction. However, that was still not enough. She hoped to make Sawyer stay for the night, to make Sissi even more tormented.
After thinking about it, she decided to invite Sawyer for a movie while completely catering to his taste.
When the third movie began to play, Amelia blinked her slightly sore eyes. Under the light from the screen, she peeped at Sawyer's expression, only to find that he was still in high spirits.
In this regard, Amelia held back her boredom and continued to accompany him watch. Meanwhile, it was almost twelve o'clock at midnight.
Gradually, she felt a surge of helplessness. She tried her best to open her eyes wide, but it became blurrier in front of her eyes. She reached out to rub her eyes, but it did not have much effect. Her eyes soon became blurry again.
She could not help but turn to look at Sawyer. D*mn! Why was he still not sleepy at all? She was almost unable to hold on!
Just as she was about to give up, an idea popped into her mind. Would Sawyer be waiting for her to be asleep to sneak back to Sissi's place? In that case, would her efforts not have been all for nothing?
Probably sensing her powerful stare, Sawyer suddenly turned to look beside...
He saw Amelia's eyes red, and there was a thin layer of mist in her eyes while she looked pitifully lovable.
"Yeah, you took me as your pillow until the end of the movie last night. My shoulder has gone numb, so where else can I go if I don't stay?" Said Sawyer.
Amelia's face turned abashed. She felt disgusted and relieved at the same time. She felt disgusted that she had lied on Sawyer while sleeping, but was glad that she had managed to make him stay the entire night by accident.
"Aren't you going back?" Amelia's heart was full of malice, wanting to urge the b*stard back to soon argue with Sissi!
While Sawyer was actually aware, "Why should I go back? To continue quarrelling with her?"
Amelia shrugged her shoulders. "Your words make sense."
Finally, she added, "In fact, it's also good for you to break up with her. As I truly don't want her to be my sister-in-law."
Although she was being harsh, it was in line with the incompatible relationship between Amelia and Sissi. It would be rather strange if Amelia persuaded Sawyer to go back and make peace with Sissi.
Sawyer curled his lips and asked with tease as he heard that, "Then who do you want as your sister-in-law? Jessica?"
Amelia widened her eyes and said angrily, "You may be willing to marry her, but she's definitely unwilling to! Have you forgotten how you bullied her when you were young!"
When he was young?
Sawyer could not help but be stunned. Was he already old at the time being?
The next second, he flattered Amelia. "If it weren't for your sake, I would have thrown her into the forest to feed the lions."
"Don't make it as you've never done such. Jessica has told me that you once put her into the forest. If it weren't for her good luck that she only met a baby lion, she would have died long ago."
"I actually wish for her to die at that time, so as to prevent myself from getting injured and Sissi from losing her child." Sawyer was extremely serious when he said it. So Amelia became more disgusted with him after feeling a chill in her heart.
In short, even if the man was her half-brother, they had different minds. Everything between them was fake, while the only true thing was their schemes at each other.
Sawyer discovered that Amelia's expression had become a little tense after they slightly talked about Jessica. It was obviously not something he would like to see. As what he needed was her good impression, instead of her annoyance and disgust.
"Forget it, I shouldn't have mentioned her. But don't get annoyed at me as we are brother and sister, everything will be over."
Sawyer was affirmative while saying the words, as if they should naturally be so. Those who were unaware might even believe that they really were of deep family affection.
Amelia simply put on a smile and did not answer him, as she would feel that she was betraying Jessica once she did.
