Come To Me (Amelia and Patrick) novel Chapter 1698

After recovering from learning that Sissi had actually taken the initiative to call him, Patrick said, "Sissi must have wanted to talk to me about Amy so she suddenly contacted me at such a time!"

Owen nodded. "That's what I thought, too. That's why I brought your phone back immediately."

"I'll call her now!" Patrick said with full eagerness.

Owen was cautious, "Before dialling, remember to turn on the phone recording so that what Sissi says to you later will be recorded, and then it can be used as evidence."

"Okay." Patrick replied. He turned on the call recording function in his phone and then dialed Sissi's phone number.

After several beeps, the phone was connected, but no one spoke.

After exchanging a glance with Owen, Patrick took the initiative to say, "Hello?"

If it was really Sissi on the other side of the phone, she should be able to recognise him through his greeting alone.

A moment later, Patrick heard Sissi's voice by his ear. She was gasping, sounding to be nervous. "Hello... I, I'm Sissi!"

Patrick and Owen could not help exchanging glances again, as if exclaiming it was truly her. Owen stretched out a finger at his lips to make a 'keep quiet' gesture. Then he pointed to the phone, indicating Patrick to be careful so as not to leak about the eavesdropping.

Patrick nodded and said, "Sissi, how have you been lately?"

It was the best to go after one's heart, while Patrick's greeting was like a drop of dew, dripping on Sissi's withered heart.

She answered bitterly and distressfully, "Patrick...

I, I'm... doing fine."

She had sounded really reluctant, so it was obvious that she had had some grievances at Sawyer's place.

Patrick resisted the urge to immediately ask her about Amelia's condition. He continued to concern her hypocritically, "Your voice sounds a bit off. Are you sick?"

Sissi replied, "I'm not sick."

Patrick then asked, "Where are you now? Are you still with Sawyer?"

Sissi replied faintly, "Where else can I go except being with him? You've abandoned me as well..."

Patrick furrowed his brows slightly. He was contemplating about how to answer her so that he would not anger her.

Sissi was the most useful clue they had in the past three months. So he must not let it perish!

At the moment, Sissi sighed and said, "Forget it. Why should I tell you this? I still remember what you told me on Streams Villa that day. You have long lost feelings for me."

Patrick tried his best to be patient as he said, "Sissi, both of us have our own destinies now. So it is indeed not suitable for us to say such things for the time being."

After a moment of silence, Sissi said coldly, "Patrick, do you know why I called you at this time?"

She was probably hurt by Patrick's reply. So she sounded less affectionate as compared to when the call had just started, as she had become distant to Patrick at the moment.

Patrick's heart sank. He thought that if he had talked more sweetly to her, perhaps he could coax Sissi and get control over her.

But he was really unable to do so. Because he had had no feelings for Sissi, and he subconsciously did not want to say anything that would betray Amelia.

He simply played dumb. "Sissi, shall you have something to talk to me about?"

He deliberately did not mention Amelia's name, waiting for Sissi to bring it up herself.

Sure enough, Sissi soon could not help but take the initiative to bring it up. "Amelia has been missing for so long. You should be worried about her, shouldn't you?"

Then, Patrick deliberately remained silent for two seconds to show that he was not so eager. Then he replied, "She's my wife. Of course I'm worried about her."

"Ha." Sissi gave a light mocking. "If you knew what she had done behind your back, you probably wouldn't have worried about her."

"What had she done?" Patrick's voice sank, not because he believed in Sissi's words, but because he was instinctively worried about Amelia getting into trouble.

Sissi said word by word, "She recognized Sawyer as her brother."

Her reply was completely out of Patrick's expectations. "What do you mean by that?"

"Just its literal meaning. Shall you be surprised, as if I am telling a story? Unfortunately, the reality is more outrageous and disgusting than a story!"

Sissi got angrier as she spoke, while she continued in anger, "Let me tell you, Sawyer bought a mansion for Amelia. They spent the past three months together while reading, admiring flowers and watching movies. They're really living a happy life at ease!"

When Patrick heard it, not only was he not angered, but he breathed a sigh of relief in his heart.

If Sissi had not lied to him, then Amy should have lived well without suffering any inhumane abuse.

"Alright, I've already told you everything I know. Don't forget that you've promised me to let Sawyer off. I hope you'll keep your promise."

As soon as her voice fell, Sissi ended the call on her own, leaving Patrick with a thoughtful look on his face.

Patrick slowly put down his phone, and Owen immediately mouthed silently, "Is it over?"

Patrick nodded with a complicated expression.

Owen immediately took away his phone, looked for the recorded call and listened to it in his ear.

Owen's expression became weirder as he listened to it. In the end, he blurted out rudely, "Amelia is Sawyer's half-sister?! What the f*ck!"

Finally, he added, "Sissi had actually told you the whereabouts of Amelia without condition. This is definitely a conspiracy! Patrick, we should both calm down."

Patrick met his eyes and said firmly, "Owen, I'm very calm now. Whether it is a conspiracy or anything else, I must go!"

Owen almost roared in reply, "Do you call yourself calm in such a way? You're clearly aware that it's a trap, yet you're still rushing to court death!"

"Owen, how can you be sure that it is a trap? Maybe Sissi was telling the truth. You locked me up here before because you were afraid that I would mess around like a headless fly. Now that Sissi has taken the initiative to give me a clue, I have to go regardless!"

As soon as his voice fell, Patrick snatched back his mobile phone and said to Owen, "Owen, thank you for returning my phone at such a critical moment. I need it now to work things out. As for gramps, I will immediately call him to inform him about the matter, and will definitely not make it difficult for you."

"The point is not that if I would be troubled..."

Before Owen could finish struggling, Patrick had already called Gramps Hopper.

Owen was astonished when he saw it. He only hoped that gramps would not come after him for insulting the superior later.

In a blink of an eye, Patrick had already started his conversation with Gramps Hopper. "Gramps, it's me."

After a moment of shock, Gramps Hopper asked in a stern voice, "Why is it you?! Hasn't your phone been confiscated by Owen?"

Patrick replied clearly, "Gramps, I don't have much time so I'll cut it short. There's news from Amy and I'm requesting for you to lift the physical restrictions on me. I have to go to L.A. right away to get Amy back!"

"Are you sure the news is true?"

"I can't be sure, but it was Sissi who revealed it to me. I decided to take a gamble!"
