But what about Sawyer?
Sissi moved her lips a few times and said hesitantly, "No... I can't..."
Patrick asked, "Why not?"
Sissi looked at him with a bitter look. "You know it already. I've betrayed him once. If I betray him again, he won't forgive me!"
Patrick asked sharply, "Is his forgiveness more important than your freedom?"
Sissi's voice was weak. "This... can't be compared to this."
"Then how should we compare?" Patrick asked.
Sissi bit her lower lip. "I... I don't know either! Anyway, I won't betray Sawyer! Don't think about... using me to deal with him!"
Patrick said calmly, "Well, since this is your final choice, I won't force you."
As soon as he finished speaking, he turned around and left.
Seeing this, Sissi panicked from the bottom of her heart. She climbed down from the bed and ran behind Patrick without even wearing her shoes. She reached out to grab his sleeve and shouted in a hoarse voice, "Wait!"
Patrick, who had his back to her, frowned. Then, he broke free from her restraint and turned to look at her.
When they got closer, the wrinkles on Sissi's face became more obvious. After all, she was an old woman who had had an abortion. If she didn't take good care of her body, wouldn't she become old?
But Patrick had never paid attention to her appearance. If it weren't for what she had done to touch his bottom line, he would have given her any face.
He retracted his thoughts and gave her a look, indicating for her to speak straightforwardly.
Looking at his increasingly mature appearance and feeling his manly courage, Sissi felt her back go soft. If possible, she really wanted to fall into his arms instead of being his enemy.
Perhaps because she was inspired by some sweet memories, she couldn't help but soften her tone. "Patrick, don't you have any way to satisfy both sides? I have lost you. I really can't lose Sawyer anymore."
When she said this, she kept glancing at him, as if she was waiting for him to say something to comfort her.
But Patrick disappointed her again.
"A way to satisfy both sides? Do you want me to let you and Sawyer stay together?"
Sissi asked, "Can, can you?"
Patrick said, "Teacher, you’re not young anymore. Why are you still so naive? You've taught me before that if a person does something bad, he or she will be punished. But now you want me to let go of a person who has committed all kinds of evil. How can I promise you?"
Sissi's face turned red. It was hard to tell whether she was more ashamed or angry. "Can't you... can't you take our past friendship into account?"
There was a hint of impatience in Patrick's eyes. "I let you go because of our past friendship. What else do you want me to do?"
"I..." Sissi didn't have the strength to lower her skinny shoulders. She covered her face and began to sob pitifully and helplessly.
Her crying was within Patrick's expectations, because she was always like this. Every time there was a difficult problem in front of her, crying was one of the most important ways to solve the problem.
He looked at her crying quietly. He did not feel sorry for her, nor did he try to comfort her.
However, how could she contact Savannah now? The police didn't even give her any communication tools!
On the one hand, she was persistent. On the other hand, she was discouraged. Sissi didn't know what to do now.
Seeing this, Patrick didn't want to talk to her anymore. Anyway, he had planted the seed of "escape" for Sissi. He had to wait for it to take root and sprout. "Think about it yourself. I'll come again next time."
Hearing this, Sissi asked nervously and expectantly, "When will it be?"
She was nervous because she didn't know if she had figured it out the next time he came.
The reason she was looking forward to it was that she wanted Patrick to come over and talk to her. It was too difficult for her to live alone.
Patrick could not give a definite answer. "Let's talk about this later."
"Well... all right." Sissi looked bitterly at his back as he walked away from her. She thought to herself more than once, "Why did they become like this?"
Thinking back to the past when he was willing to die for her, Sissi felt empty in her heart.
There was the sound of the cell being locked again, and then the lights in the corridor darkened. Her world changed from colorful to gray.
She lay back on the hard iron bed like a wandering ghost. She didn't know how long she could hold on to Sawyer. Was this worth it?

After Patrick came out of the police station, he thought of something. He took off his suit jacket and threw it into the nearby trash can. It was better to get rid of the things that were stained by Sissi. On the one hand, he didn't want to be misunderstood by Amy. On the other hand, he would feel comfortable.
