Yale saw Rachel’s brow twitch; he knew that he had said something wrong, and quickly corrected
himself.
“Ms. Lloyd, don’t misunderstand me. I didn’t mean that. I just meant that… Mr. Hunt isn’t someone like
that.”
Rachel asked, “Then what about Ms. Charlton?”
“Ms. Charlton…” Yale bowed his head, unsure of what to say next. He whispered with uncertainty, “I don’t know about Ms. Charlton.”
“But you should be able to tell that Ms. Charlton likes Mr. Hunt, right?” Rachel probed, as though seeking
affirmation.
Yale’s voice went a pitch higher. “Like? She’s obsessed with Mr. Hunt! You may not know this, Ms. Lloyd, but she didn’t just start liking Mr. Hunt. She liked Mr. Hunt since they started working together overseas. Everyone in our company knows about it.”
“How long have they been working with each other?” Rachel asked, curious.
“About three years,” Yale replied, rubbing his chin as though deep in thought.
Rachel was surprised to hear his answer. “Three years overseas, added to the three to four years after Tyler’s return. That’s a total of six to seven years!”
She couldn’t tell that Anne loved Tyler so deeply and for so long. Even she couldn’t guarantee that she could love a single person for so long, and on an unrequited basis.
Anne probably knew that Tyler didn’t like her the same way. If he did, he would have been with her a long
time ago.
However, all these had nothing to do with Rachel. Conversely, she should find the situation rather
unsettling.
Since she and Tyler were still bound by contractual terms, they were technically still a couple. Rachel couldn’t reject Tyler’s request to be intimate with her.
Upon the termination of the contract, Tyler had the freedom to like and be with another woman. It would be none of Rachel’s business.
Things were different now, however. They were still together; the thought of Tyler being intimate with her and Anne made goosebumps rise on her arms.
Rachel immediately came to another decision. “To protect Tyler, we should make them stay downstairs where the main hall is. Anne wouldn’t dare do anything bold in public.”

“But what if she intoxicates Mr. Hunt and tries to bring him to a hotel room? And Ms. Lloyd, if you’re truly worried that something will happen between Mr. Hunt and Ms. Charlton, why did you agree to let them go on a date in the first place? You really shouldn’t underestimate what a woman can do when she’s into
a man.”
Rachel didn’t have the capacity to consider so much at that time. She didn’t expect things between Tyler and Anne to progress so quickly. 1
But by now, whatever Yale pointed out to her was meaningless.
“I’ll explain things to you next time. We should be thinking of a way to move them from downstairs to the
hall.”
Yale stuck his hands in his pockets and paced around the room. “Ms. Lloyd, how about this? Let’s just tell the bar owner that an important patron needs the room and have him move Mr. Hunt to the hall downstairs.”
