Chapter 737
In her heart, Rachel summed it up in one sentence.
‘Anne had brought this all on herself.‘
She had already reminded Anne earlier to hold her tongue–that even if she had a lot of dissatisfaction with someone, it was better kept inside than spoken out in front of everyone.
There was a saying: loose lips get you in trouble.
This was exactly that.
The police had also heard what was happening inside. They immediately deployed their officers, but the
moment the man spotted them, he began to lose control.
“Get lost! All of you, get the hell away! If anyone comes closer, I’ll kill her!”
The officers raised their hands and tried to calm him down.
“Just take it easy! We won’t come closer, but you need to calm down. Think about it. You don’t actually need to
do this. You don’t even know her.”
But the man’s veins bulged across his forehead. He broke down, shouting hysterically.
“She said I deserved it! She told people not to sympathize with me! Do you even understand? I’ve seen women
like her a thousand times. And don’t think I can’t tell–you’ve got a thing for that guy, don’t you? Well, let me
tell you. He’ll never want a dumb woman like you! He’s into that other girl who spoke to you just now. And as for you? Always gossiping behind people’s backs? Ask yourself, what man would ever love someone like you?”
Anne wanted to argue back, but she didn’t dare. She was terrified that one spark of anger from this lunatic
would end with her throat being slit. Her rage was buried under waves of fear.
“I’m sorry, I’ll apologize, okay? I didn’t mean it! I really didn’t mean to say those things about you.”
But the man wasn’t having it. He glared at her with pure disgust. “What good is your apology now? Does saying
sorry erase the damage you’ve done to me?”
His hysteria was so intense that his hands trembled, and with them, the knife trembled too. The blade’s movement made Anne’s knees buckle. Choking on tears, she begged desperately.

“I swear, I didn’t mean it! Please, I’m begging you, just let me go! If it’s money you want, or anything else, I’ll give it to you. Just please let me go!”
But there wasn’t a shred of pity in his eyes. There was only viciousness.
“Let you go? And why would I? People were right about you. You don’t know the full story, but you dare to trash
me and pin all the blame on me?”
Anne’s mind went blank. She was incapable of processing his words. All she could do was nod frantically.
“You’re right. You’re absolutely right! I was being narrow–minded. The problem isn’t you, it’s your girlfriend.
