“Someone actually asked him about it. Do you know what he said? He said he already had someone he liked. A girl he’d been secretly in love with for a very long time.

“He stressed the words for a very long time. After that, the coworkers who had been pursuing him stopped. I guess they realized that for someone like him, if he already liked someone, it would be nearly impossible for him to like anyone else.”

Rachel’s thoughts turned into a jumble.

“You mean he has liked that girl ever since back then?”

“Yes. For many years, even earlier than we think. I don’t know who exactly, but judging from what I’ve observed these past few days, I think it’s very likely you.”
