“So is that the reason you’re always so hostile each time you see me?”

“Not entirely. I just think that it’s not worth it for Rachel to give up her career, come back here, and spend so much time and effort on your affairs.”

Jerry thought that someone with Tyler’s background would never allow him to be so audacious with his words.

Yet, Tyler didn’t look angry at all. Conversely, his reaction seemed a little exaggerated.

Tyler’s words fell like a hammer on Jerry’s heart.

His initial confidence was wiped away, and the light in his eyes dimmed.

He hadn’t thought about the consequences. All he wanted to do was teach anyone who hurt Rachel a lesson.

Tyler’s words made Jerry ponder. He wasn’t an unreasonable person, after all.

“I’m sorry. I admit that I didn’t think through this enough. Your approach might be better than mine, but she still ended up hurt.”

Jerry wanted Rachel to come out unscathed and have a life that truly belonged to her.

This time, Tyler failed to hold back his laughter.

“Can we not talk about such impractical things? You know clearly that’s impossible! The most we can do is to prevent her from getting hurt as much as possible. If you want her not to get hurt at all, you’ll have to keep her locked up at home. Given what you know of her, do you think she’ll be willing to be like a bird locked up in a cage?
