“What right do you have to blame me? Can you blame me for being able to bear a child for you? You should blame yourself for that!” Samantha snapped.
“What do you mean by that?” William could sense that there was something else Samantha was keeping from him.
Samantha suddenly chuckled. “You probably don’t know this. William, think about it. Why couldn’t you and Rachel have a child even after so many years?”
Rachel was brought into the limelight once more. She hurriedly explained herself.
“It’s not that I didn’t want a child. Before I realized he was with Samantha, I had planned for a child, too. He himself said that he didn’t want a child bogging him down when his career was still on the rise.”
William did ask her about having a child later, but that was when Rachel realized he was having an
affair with Samantha.
No one would agree to bear his child under such circumstances.
In fact, Rachel felt deeply repulsed whenever William drew near to her.
William grabbed Samantha’s wrist in a panic. “What are you trying to say?”
Samantha laughed crazily as she looked at William, her eyes red–rimmed. “Haven’t you realized that it’s your problem? I was never the infertile one–you are!”
William stood stunned, his face turning dark, his eyes lost. He looked like he was in a trance that he
couldn’t shake himself out of.
Then, he stammered, “I…I don’t believe this. That’s impossible! How could I be infertile? Samantha, are you still trying to find an excuse for your infidelity?”
Samantha pursed her lips. “I know you’d never believe me, given what I know of you. You’ll never admit or believe it. This is your medical report. I wanted to give it to you last time, but you were too confident in yourself. You thought there was no need to read it.”
She pulled out a file from her bag and handed it to William.
“Read it yourself. If you still don’t believe me, you can go for another check at the hospital.”
William did consider the possibility that Samantha had found someone to falsify the report so that she had an excuse for betraying him. However, her bold claim that he could go for another check at the hospital was enough to tell him that the report was genuine.

“William, this is retribution, you know that? You are the source of Rachel’s and my misfortune!
“You two wouldn’t have gotten a divorce if you hadn’t had an affair with me behind her back. Given how much she loved you at that time, she’d surely be able to accept this harsh truth about your
