Countdown to My Divorce (Rachel and William) novel Chapter 899

Chapter 899

Yale sat in the driver’s seat. He felt like the world’s most awkward third wheel.

He figured if Tyler and Rachel were going out for dinner, maybe it was best if he made an excuse to leave.

He said to Tyler directly, Sir, after I drop you two off, I’ll head back to the office to finalize the contracts and get the team moving on the project.

Okay,Tyler replied.

Yale let out a soft sigh of relief. Nobody wanted to be the third wheel. It was uncomfortable just standing there watching.

Tyler carefully shielded Rachel as she got out of the car, worried she might bump her head.

Rachel shot him a helpless look. I’m only one month pregnant. It’s nine months in total. Are you planning to stay this worked up for the next eight?

Better safe than sorry. The baby matters, but your health comes first.

Once Rachel stepped out, Tyler slipped an arm around her waist. Rachel could feel the warmth of his palm even through the fabric.

Her back tensed up. She glanced around and noticed people staring at them from the restaurant’s entrance.

The stares made her uncomfortable. She shrugged and instinctively tried to pull away.

Let me go. I can walk by myself.

Tyler knew exactly why she was uneasy. He lowered his head and murmured in her ear, You’re never this jumpy at work. Now, a couple of glances from strangers and you’re acting all embarrassed?

Rachel glared at him. I’m not like you. I don’t have thick skin.

She hurried into the restaurant. Tyler took long strides and reached the door first. He opened it for her.

Rachel glanced at him, and he nodded, leaving her speechless.

Yale hadn’t left yet and caught sight of the entire scene. His eyes went wide, and he secretly snapped a picture to send to his coworkersprivate group chat.

The group was set up by the office grunts as a place to vent and crack jokes.

The second Yale sent the photo, the group chat exploded, dragging even the quiet lurkers out.

[Oh my goodness! Is that really Mr. Hunt? He always looks so stern.]

[Yale, are you sure you didn’t take that shot wrong? Is this the same Mr. Hunt who kicked me out for being two minutes late on a presentation?]

[I second that. At last week’s renewable energy review meeting, Landon miscalculated a single figure, and Mr. Hunt slammed the files on the table. It scared me so bad, I spilled my coffee.]

Someone from the finance department jumped in.

[And look at this picture! He’s holding the door for his wife like a doorman. That’s a crazy switchup.]
