Upon hearing Jayson's name, Ariel lowered her eyes and thought for a few seconds.
The WhatsApp call with Janice had already been dropped due to poor connection.
…
At the main hall, when Janice spotted Jayson, a few people noticed him too.
Cecilia arrived around the same time. After chatting briefly with a few guests, she made her way straight over.
Jayson didn't pay attention to anyone else. He just asked Janice, "Where's Ariel?"
Janice didn't know either.
But one of the waiters, suddenly seeming to remember something upon seeing Jayson and Janice, pointed down the left hallway. "Are you looking for Ms. Walker? She went to Room 3007."
Jayson glanced in that direction.
At that moment, Cecilia reached his side. "Mr. Larkin, Ms. Swanson, why aren't Ms. Walker and Mr. Hockney here?"
However, Jayson was already heading toward the lounge area on the left. He didn't spare anyone else a second glance. Right now, all he cared about was confirming Ariel's pregnancy. Nothing else mattered.
But the waiter, like he had just remembered something, added, "Mr. Larkin, maybe you should wait here. I can get her for you."
Jayson shot him a look.
Janice noticed the waiter's odd expression. Frowning, she asked, "Is something wrong?"
Cecilia tilted her head to watch the waiter.
He finally said thoughtfully, "Ms. Walker is probably busy. She's meeting with Mr. Sanderson from Jadeon Tech."
That one sentence immediately made Janice's face go cold. "And? The siblings have nothing urgent to talk about. No need for you to speak for him."
She sensed something was off. Ariel wouldn't have any reason to meet with Lucas. What made it even stranger was that the waiter said it in front of Jayson, with others nearby listening.
The first hint of trouble must be dealt with immediately.
Cecilia suddenly seemed to remember something. "I heard Mr. Sanderson was adopted by the Sanderson family. I know his fiancee, and she seems to have an issue with Ariel. Why would a sister-in-law be jealous of the sister?"
But just as they arrived, the door opened.
Jayson slowed his pace, then stopped.
Ariel stood at the doorway, and behind her was Lucas, who had just finished changing.
He balled up a shirt in his hands and tossed it into the bathroom, then raised his hand to straighten his tie.
There was something subtly suggestive about those gestures.
Lucas met Jayson's gaze and suddenly smiled. "Mr. Larkin? You're here too? Don't get the wrong idea. There's nothing going on between us."
It would have been fine if he hadn't mentioned it, but bringing it up only made it seem like he had something to hide.
Ariel shot Lucas a cold look. He didn't care about her situation at all.
Jayson's gaze skimmed over Lucas and settled on Ariel. He stepped forward, standing right beside her. "Mr. Sanderson, I may not know you well, but I know my wife better than anyone. You didn't have to make such unnecessary jokes."
Lucas' smile faded.

The readers' comments on the novel: Dead at Heart (Ariel and Jayson)
Nice and amazing story with gripping turns, but can you give more chapters? And please we need more romance as readers, it has been dragging on a lot, maybe romance, happy ending and end it soon....
