Dead at Heart (Ariel and Jayson) novel Chapter 666

The doctor's forcefulness only deepened Ariel's unease, especially with his hand clamped on her shoulder so tightly that she couldn't move at all.

"What are you doing? I never agreed to any injection!" Ariel had a sharp intuition about certain things, and the feeling that something was off kept intensifying.

"Ms. Walker, don't worry. It's just an allergy test." The nurse had stepped in to help the doctor restrain her. Her tone was nonchalant, but her actions were firm.

Ariel was sure this wasn't part of the assessment.

With her fragile condition, every step should have been weighed carefully by the doctor, and Liam hadn't ordered this.

This wasn't a blood draw. It was an injection!

"Let go of me!" Ariel shouted, thrashing violently.

But her sharp resistance barely slowed them down.

The nurse, clearly impatient, used both hands to restrain her.

Ariel was suddenly pinned down, forced to watch as the silent man stuck a needle into her vein and pushed a bit of liquid inside.

A surge of strength came from nowhere. Ariel fought back, unconcerned if her thrashing made the needle tear into her.

She drove her leg upward and kicked toward the man's stomach, no longer caring whether she hurt him or not.

They were trying to hurt her, and she had no idea why.

Ariel's struggle was so fierce that even the nurse was thrown aside. Seizing the moment when the man recoiled, Ariel rolled off the bed and staggered toward the door.

However, it was locked.

Ariel could only slam into the door repeatedly to draw attention from outside.

Realizing how quickly Ariel caught on and how much of a scene she was causing, the two exchanged grim looks before slipping out through another door.

Meanwhile, Liam finished the surgery quickly. He left the sutures and final touches to his team as he planned to check in on Ariel.
