Jayda never imagined that her teasing back then would now give Evelyn cause to be sarcastic.

Jayda just smiled lightly and stood up. "Evelyn, you've got quite the sense of humor. A good match doesn't come by chance. It's fate. Clearly, they're destined for each other."

Evelyn sipped her tea and didn't respond.

Jayson didn't want to dwell on the topic. He took Ariel's hand and guided her to the single couch before letting go.

Shane acted as if he didn't know anything about what had happened back then. He eased into a seat. "Ari, before I went abroad, didn't you have some kind of car accident?"

Ariel nodded. "Yeah, you remember that?"

Jayson raised an eyelid casually.

Shane's gaze drifted to Ariel's arm. "I remember you broke your right hand. You really scared Jayson back then. He was so worried about you that he didn't care about anything else. He stayed by your side for quite a while, even during the crucial period when the board was choosing the new head.

At that time, Jayson hadn't officially taken over Bluum Corp yet and was in the thick of outmaneuvering the board.

Any small mistake could have derailed things. Yet when Ariel got hurt, Jayson dropped everything to care for her.

If Jayson hadn't been so skilled, he probably would have been out of the picture that time.

Ariel remembered it all vividly. Her love for Jayson was concrete, sparked by every single thing he did.

She didn't know the exact state of things at Bluum Corp back then, but he had personally looked after her for two months, taking care of every detail of her life. He cooked for her the most then.

Those two months had been some of the rare happy moments she had had.

"Looks like you two are still doing well," Shane said, pouring himself a cup of tea.

Ariel hadn't expected him to remember all that. But she wasn't particularly close with Shane, so she just nodded and smiled politely.
