Even the surveillance footage showed nothing. The two people who had harmed Ariel had vanished from the hospital as if into thin air.

They probably knew the hospital inside out. There was no other way they could have left absolutely no trace behind.

Ariel closed her eyes. She couldn't accept this. Even if she had wanted to terminate the pregnancy, she couldn't accept losing the baby in that way.

Liam said, "I work at this hospital, but I assure you, the hospital's been cooperative. They likely didn't know anything. The director made it clear that if the hospital had been at fault, they wouldn't shirk responsibility. It's just that the people who did this were clever. We couldn't find anything yet."

He knew how Ariel felt, so he made sure to explain everything clearly.

He even spoke to the hospital's higher-ups using his family name.

The hospital agreed to cooperate, with the only condition that nothing be publicized until the investigation concluded. No one wanted the hospital dragged into a scandal prematurely. The fallout could be disastrous.

Liam could understand that. Without concrete evidence, it wasn't fair to implicate the entire hospital.

Ariel knew he had done more than enough to help. She swallowed and said softly, "Thank you for handling this."

Liam's tone softened. "We'll have news soon. For now, we need to focus on your health. The surgery can be scheduled as soon as possible."

Because of the abortion, her body had already suffered trauma. The method she had undergone was dangerous, adding extra risks to the procedure.

Ariel replied, "Okay. You can make the arrangement, Dr. Spencer. I'll be free in about two weeks."

Liam was silent for a long moment, then spoke gently. "Ariel, don't be afraid. I'll do my best."

She was still so young. How could she not be afraid?

Ariel knew Liam was careful and gentle by nature. She drew a deep breath and said, "Thank you."

No one could say for certain whether the surgery would succeed. All she could do was steel herself.

After hanging up, she looked at Janice's screenshot of Nancy's WhatsApp name again. She gave a quiet, bitter laugh and shook her head.
