Jayson was drenched in cold sweat, hunched over, and panting softly.
Warm, wet liquid trickled down his back. He could feel the stab wound was deep—so deep, it felt like the blade might have pierced his chest. The pain was excruciating.
Morgan had been kicked so hard in the stomach that he rolled several feet across the floor, nearly coughing up blood. But he scrambled to his feet quickly.
"Stand back!" he shouted. "If you try to go upstairs, I'll make her fall from that spot!"
Jayson was losing blood fast. He'd been running a high fever for a full day and hadn't recovered. The injury on his back made him increasingly light-headed. Still, he didn't let it show.
Morgan, now savoring the moment, stared at the wounded Jayson with a twisted sense of triumph. "So the great Mr. Larkin isn't always powerful and invincible? That's payback for what you did to me!"
Beyond his demands, Morgan had come for revenge.
A cold glint flashed in Jayson's eyes as he forced himself to stand straighter. "Don't hurt her. I'll give you what you want."
Morgan didn't waste time with more threats. He rushed upstairs, determined to keep his leverage intact.
He knew Jayson wasn't an easy opponent. Lowering his guard wasn't an option.
Clutching his chest, Jayson took a few deep breaths. Despite the pain, he rushed out of the building—he had to make sure Ariel was safe.
Ariel couldn't fully discern the state of the person from where she was. She could only steel herself and say, "I'm alright! Don't worry. I'm fine!"
She didn't know what Morgan might do in desperation. Her only hope was to keep Jayson safe.
Jayson didn't mention his injury. He took a deep breath and raised his voice. "Don't worry. Just trust me! I won't let anything bad happen to you."
Morgan had reached the third floor. His voice echoed through the building. "I know everything! You destroyed the Sanderson Group! Jayson Larkin, this is payback!"
Jayson's eyes hardened. This wasn't how things were supposed to go. His plan had been to slowly strip Morgan of his options, keeping him in the dark while dismantling the Sanderson family's empire. But now…
Suddenly, tires screeched outside. Lucas jumped out of his car, his face twisted with rage and panic as he took in the sight before him. "Morgan Sanderson, have you lost your mind?"
With everyone present, Morgan shouted his demands. "Prepare one billion dollars and help me leave the country safely. I'm taking her with me. Once I'm safe, I'll let her go."
Jayson could feel his shirt soaked with blood. He leaned against the car door to steady himself. Then he looked at Ariel and said firmly, "Fine. I'll do everything you ask. Just let her down first."
He glanced at Lucas.
Morgan, too far away, didn't notice the brief exchange.

Nice and amazing story with gripping turns, but can you give more chapters? And please we need more romance as readers, it has been dragging on a lot, maybe romance, happy ending and end it soon....
