Shane looked toward the ICU. His expression hardened. "What's wrong with Jayson? Did something happen to him?"

Frowning, he stepped forward for a closer look. "How did he end up in the ICU?"

It seemed like Shane had run into them by coincidence. The surprise on his face appeared genuine.

Ariel, now composed, didn't look flustered. She glanced at Arthur before turning to Shane. "He sustained some injuries. Fortunately, nothing too serious. You don't need to worry, Shane."

Shane responded with mild disapproval. "Jayson's condition looks serious. Patients aren't admitted to the ICU unless it's critical. Ari, we're family. We're here to help carry the burden. You don't have to face this alone."

Arthur stepped forward, subtly blocking Shane's view of Jayson. His tone remained polite. "Mr. Jayson has turned in for the night since it's quite late. Don't worry, Mr. Shane. I'll remind him to call you tomorrow and update you when he's available."

Shane studied Arthur closely. He knew of Arthur, of course. Jayson had entrusted him with many important responsibilities.

Assistants and secretaries varied in rank, and Arthur's competence was clearly above average.

"What brings you here to the hospital at this hour, Shane?" Staring at Shane intently, Ariel changed the topic. She sounded as though she had only asked the question out of curiosity.

Shane replied, "My mom couldn't sleep. She's been suffering from migraines. I brought her here to see a doctor. I didn't expect to run into you."

Ariel couldn't refute that. It would be inappropriate to accuse Shane of surveillance after such a statement.

"Then stay with your mom and keep her company. You don't need to worry about Jayson. He's fine." Ariel kept her tone calm and neutral. She had no intention to elaborate more.

Shane's gaze lingered on her. "I feel reassured now that you've said that. Just make sure Jayson calls me tomorrow."

Ariel nodded.

Shane finally turned and walked away. Ariel's expression darkened as she watched him leave.

Recalling what Arthur had told her about Bluum Corp's current situation, Ariel was convinced Shane's appearance wasn't a coincidence. He was likely keeping close tabs on Jayson's movements.
