Jonathan Trowned and said, “Okay. Thank you, doctor.”
In the ward. After all that trouble, Teresa finally stopped feeling nauseous. Seeing her pate face, Jonathan took a deep breath and walked over. He gently covered her with a blanket and said, “Get some rest.”
Terese shook her head and glanced at the clock on the wall. It was already five o’clock. “It’s already morning. I might as well stay up: What did the doctor
Jonathan told her what the doctor had said, “You’re under too much stress and anxiety, which is making your vomiting worse. What did you promise me before? Didn’t we agree to put the baby first and not act on impulse?”
Teresa defended herself. “I wasn’t being impulsive,”
Jonathan said, “You flew here all by yourself without even telling me. Isn’t that impulsive? Is your phone just for decoration? I’ve been waiting all day with my phone on, but you didn’t bother to call me even once.”
Teresa looked a bit frustrated. “I forgot. Besides, since Lucas had woken up, I wanted to come to the hospital to check on him.”
Jonathan said, “Look how weak you are, and you even came all the way here to see him? Couldn’t you just wait until he gets back to Nareigh and talk at
home?
“You always just do whatever pops into your head, never thinking about the consequences. And you never consider that you’re still pregnant!”
Teresa shot back, “Humph, so now you’re blaming me? Isn’t it just because you’re scared something might happen to the baby? The baby’s going to be just fine. He’ll be born safe and sound, okay?‘
“So, in your eyes, I only care about the baby?” Jonathan asked.
“You said it yourself. If it weren’t for the baby, you would’ve left me a long time ago, right? I never wanted to use the baby to tie you down, or to get anything out of you.
“So don’t use the baby as an excuse to lecture me. I don’t want to hear any of your so–called righteous talk!”
Jonathan stared at Teresa and swallowed hard. Whatever he wanted to say was lost when he saw the tears welling up in her eyes.
“I won’t say anything else. Just get some rest. I’ll be right outside if you need me,” he said. With that, he turned and walked out.
Teresa sat on the bed with a flash of guilt flickering in her eyes.
She thought, ‘I shouldn’t have said that. Even if it’s just for the baby, at least he’s been running around taking care of me while I’m in the hospital. I really shouldn’t have snapped at him.’
She was exhausted. She lay down and tried to get some sleep. She wasn’t sure if Jonathan was really waiting outside, but somehow, she couldn’t help but want to believe him.
When he said, “It wasn’t me. I didn’t know anything about this. Do you believe me?” she already trusted him deep down.
But trusting him didn’t mean she trusted his mom. She couldn’t possibly trust Irene, who desperately wanted her to disappear.
Teresa slept straight through and didn’t wake up until after ten. Sunlight streamed in through the gaps in the curtains, and it was a beautiful sunny day.
