The Ex-Wife's Secret (Jonathan and Teresa) novel Chapter 832

Chapter 832

Jonathan didn’t dare to say the word love. At the very least, he could feel Teresa cared about him. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have caressed his face this morning.

Teresa looked away and said, I care about Mike, Miriam, and Benny, too. We were married once. I can’t say I don’t care at all. As for fast night, you can think of it as my way of saying thank you.

Angry words rose to his lips, but Jonathan forced them back, swallowing what had nearly slipped from the depths of his heart.

So it was gratitude, guilt, and maybe a bit of pity that made you so willing last night?

Teresa didn’t say a word. Jonathan also stayed silent, his chiseled features growing even colder.

Teresa’s phone suddenly rang. It was Miriam calling, asking if Teresa would be coming back today and if she needed Miriam to pick her up.

No need, Miriam. I’ll head to the office later,” Teresa said and then hung up.

Jonathan said, I’ll drive you. I need to head to the office, too.

Teresa didn’t refuse. Neither of them said a word on the way. After last night’s intimacy in the shower, they now sat side by side, dressed and silent, like two people trying to forget they were ever close.

When they arrived at the entrance of Teresouth Group, Teresa unbuckled her seatbelt and said, Drop by my place sometime if you’re free. My mom wants to invite you over for dinner to thank you.”

Jonathan paused for a second before replying, How about tomorrow?

Sure,” Teresa replied.

Teresa knew he still had his things to attend to. Then she got out of the car.

Jonathan’s gaze followed her as she walked away, and he pinched the bridge of his nose.

When Teresa arrived at the office, Miriam hurried over, her eyes sparkling with gossip. She’d seen it all. Jonathan had dropped Teresa off.

Fess up, were you two together last night or what?Miriam pressed.

Teresa coughed awkwardly and grabbed the stack of files next to her before she said, I’ve got a meeting coming up.

Miriam raised her eyebrows, seeing through Teresa’s attempt to dodge the question. She huffed.

Teresa, Jennifer’s not in charge anymore, so why not remarry Jonathan? Let him run the company while you relax and enjoy the dividends. Sounds like a pretty good deal, doesn’t it?Miriam said.

Teresa shook her head and replied, We’re never getting remarried.

Why not? Don’t you both still have feelings for each other?

Teresa went quiet and asked, Miriam, do you know why the company ran into trouble this time?

Why? Did you figure out who did it?Miriam asked, her curiosity piqued.

Teresa paused, then said quietly, I think it was Irene.

Miriam was shocked. You mean Jonathan’s mom is targeting you?

Yeah, I think she’s out to get me on purpose.”
