Chapter 887
Michael looked at Jonathan and held his cheeks. “I saw that Mr. Lime kept saying I’m cute”
Teresa nearly laughed. “Really? What else did you see?”
Michael said, “Mr. Lime said he was going to build me an amusement park, is that true?”
Jonathan bent down, picked up Michael, and kissed his cheek. “Yes. Do you like it?”
“I love it,” Michael said excitedly.
Teresa breathed a sigh of relief. Seeing that Michael hadn’t caught any of the vicious comments made her feel at ease.
After Michael ran off to play in the yard, Jonathan turned to Teresa and said, “Relax. I wouldn’t let him see any of the bad news.”
Teresa said, feeling relieved, “Okay.”
The three of them went to visit Hayden later. Hayden, Werner, and Donald were already there. Hayden, leaning on his cane, stumbled over to Teresa and urged her to sit quickly.
Teresa saw Hayden no longer use a wheelchair. She was happy but also felt guilty, especially when Hayden held her hand and solemnly placed it in Jonathan’s palm. Instantly, she lowered her head.
Hayden said, “I hope you can live a happy life with your kids together.”
Neither Teresa nor Jonathan responded to Hayden. Both wore complicated expressions.
Hayden was delighted and asked Teresa whether she hoped the baby would be a boy or a girl. “Well, I hope it’s a girl.”
“Why don’t you tell him?” Teresa said, glancing at Jonathan. She didn’t want to say it herself.
Jonathan pursed his lips and risked getting yelled at by telling Hayden it was a boy, not a girl.
“Have you already known the baby’s gender?” Hayden asked.
“Yeah,” Teresa responded.
Werner said with a grin, “A boy is good. You’re still young. Maybe you’ll have another kid later. Who knows?”
Hayden nodded, shaking off his disappointment. “Yeah, Werner is right. Boys are cute too.”
Teresa rejected the idea silently, thinking, ‘There’s no way I am having another kid. Two is enough.‘
A car pulled up outside. Teresa expected Cheryl but saw Gary instead. He came in, greeted Jonathan first, then Teresa.
Teresa said, “I haven’t seen you in a while. What have you been up to?”
Gary replied, “I went back to Shaville to handle some matters with my mother. I saw the news. Did you guys really get back together?”
“Yeah.” Teresa nodded. Not wanting to continue the topic, she said, “Come on in. Hayden is waiting for you.”
Gary thought Teresa was acting strange, so he sneaked over to Jonathan to ask if they had really gotten back together.
Jonathan just nodded like Teresa did, and that made Gary even more confused.
Hayden said, “Okay, it’s time to enjoy the meal.”
Chapter 887
Everyone was present except frene, who was not in Narelgh, and Cheryl. No one bothered asking about Irene, only Cheryl
Donald covered for Cheryl. “She’s busy working out of town.”
Hayden didn’t seem to suspect anything and asked, “What about Jennifer? Where is she?”
The room fell silent. Donald downed a gulp of wine and said, “Did you forget? Jennifer and I are divorced.”
Though he smiled as he spoke, he couldn’t hide the sadness in his eyes.
Hayden sighed, shaking his head. “My memory is terrible. Come on, let’s enjoy the meal and celebrate Teresa’s return to our family. Cheers
Everyone raised their glasses. Outside, the fireworks blossomed beautifully, celebrating this wonderful moment. They lasted two full hours, lighting up most of Nareigh.
Donald drank glass after glass. The livelier the scene, the deeper his pain. Once, high hopes rested on him, with many expecting he would have children
before Jonathan did.
He didn’t care about beating anyone to fatherhood. He just wanted a
However, his child was killed by Jennifer and would never be born. He should hate her, yet he couldn’t help but miss her.
“Excuse me, guys. I’m going out for a walk.” Donald stepped out alone, feeling suffocated. The moon tonight was unusually full, but he found it ironic.
Suddenly, Donald heard footsteps behind him and turned around, but the street was quiet. He thought, ‘Am I having an illusion?‘
The November air still had a slight chill to it. Without even realizing it, he found himself near the train station. Out of nowhere, someone called his name from across the station, and for a moment, he thought he had seen Jennifer.
He froze, wondering, ‘Is it her? Is she back?‘
The next moment, a high–speed train sped past. Once it disappeared, the person on the platform was gone, and Donald felt like it was just his imagination.
Half an hour later, Teresa sat across from Jennifer at a nearby café.
During the fireworks, Michael pulled her toward the window, and she immediately saw Jennifer standing alone by the door.
Jennifer stood by herself, the autumn breeze ruffling her hair, making her look lonely.
At that moment, Teresa couldn’t help but feel a strange mix of emotions. While Jonathan was drunk and napping on the couch, she went to meet
Jennifer.
Teresa looked at Jennifer. “You came to me last time, saying you had something important. What was it? Jonathan said you were going to see Fiona. Is
that true?”
