Xiao Nan busied herself applying medicine while chattering nonstop.
The sound of a notification from the phone alerted Luo Yuwei, who upon checking saw two posts by Star Entertainment’s official account condemning Ye Xian’s sasaeng fans, all beneath which were positive comments.
Her gaze paused momentarily. She then looked at the bruises on her arm, opened the camera, took two photos of the injuries, and began editing a Weibo post.
Xiao Nan curiously leaned over to see her Weibo draft, noticing she shared the Star Entertainment post that had just criticized Ye Xian’s sasaeng fans, and added her own injury photos as a gesture of support. She was about to ask why Luo Yuwei still spoke favorably of Ye Xian, but then the realization hit her.
"Sister Yuwei is so clever," she thought. This post, seemingly condemning sasaeng fans and supporting Ye Xian, would appear to fans, oblivious bystanders, and the drama ’Conquest of the World’ fans as Ye Xian failing to manage his fans, who ended up hurting Sister Yuwei.
Wouldn’t Sister Yuwei then reap the benefits, gaining sympathy from the vast online community? Truly killing two birds with one stone!
After editing the Weibo, Luo Yuwei took a screenshot and sent it to Sister Mei.
There was a customary practice for Star Entertainment Artists; before posting on Weibo, they needed approval from their agent or the company.
Luo Yuwei set down the ice pack, waiting for Sister Mei to give the nod before pressing send.
Unexpectedly, ten minutes later, Sister Mei replied, "Yuwei, you can’t post this Weibo."
Luo Yuwei and Xiao Nan were shocked.
Xiao Nan called Sister Mei to inquire, "Sister Mei, why can’t Sister Yuwei post this Weibo? There’s nothing sensitive or erroneous in it, and it supports our own artist against sasaeng fans. What’s the issue?"
"The issue is that there is no issue."
Sister Mei said with a distressed smile, glancing at Jiang Wen sitting opposite her, legs crossed and expression severe.
"But the issue of sasaeng fans is sensitive by nature. Plus, with Ye Xian currently attracting a lot of attention, even small incidents can be blown out of proportion and misinterpreted by the public. Let’s just focus quietly on our filming and avoid these distractions," she explained.
What does she mean by ’avoiding distractions’? Sister Yuwei was injured!
Xiao Nan was seething with anger but dared not speak up. Sister Mei, after hanging up the phone, turned to Jiang Wen with a cheerful grin, "Brother Wen, I’ve already talked to her. She won’t post it."
"Not just this one; going forward, she must not post anything related to Ye Xian without the company’s and my approval," Jiang Wen insisted.
"Of course, of course!" Sister Mei eagerly agreed.
"Give me her Weibo account and password," he demanded.
Sister Mei hesitated for a moment, then resignedly agreed, "Okay, okay."
Jiang Wen took the phone, glancing at her irritably. They were both old foxes, so why play coy?
The previous few drama-related posts by Luo Yuwei hinted at ulterior motives, which others might not catch, but he saw right through them.
So what if she was a new talent that the company was pushing forward?
Ye Xian was the superstar he intended to shoot to fame; anyone attempting to sabotage him would meet his immediate retaliation.
After the call, Xiao Nan huffed towards Luo Yuwei, "What’s the deal? We get hurt and can’t even speak up? Do we have to consider others’ problems even when we post our own Weibo? The company is too biased towards Ye Xian, just because he has high traffic. Don’t others have rights?"
