Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 235

Dean didn’t catch up to her.

Juan grabbed his arm, face dark with anger. “Mr. Sparrow, what the hell is going on? How could Skyline System be accused of plagiarism? I refuse to believe Evelina would do something like that!”

He’d seen Evelina’s talent and pride for himself. She was so confident, so brilliant—there was no way she’d ever stoop to stealing someone else’s work.

Dean’s mind was a mess. All he could see was Emmy’s code comparison up on the screen and that last look she’d given him—so full of contempt and disappointment.

He shook off Juan’s hand, frustrated. “I don’t know, okay? Don’t ask me!”

He wanted to chase after Emmy, but she was long gone.

Juan blocked his path again, holding back his anger. “Aren’t you Evelina’s fiancé? Something this huge just happened, and you’re just going to walk away? No matter what really happened, we need to help clear her name first!”

Dean frowned, finally pulling out his phone. “Fine. I’ll call her. I’ll find out what’s going on.”

He’d barely turned to leave when the PR director came running, white as a sheet.

“Mr. Carter, it’s bad! The plagiarism story about Skyline System has blown up—it’s the top trending topic online!”

Juan felt his head pounding, stress building by the second. Right then, his assistant ran up, looking both panicked and excited.

“Mr. Carter, the National Fire Department wants to meet! They specifically asked to discuss a partnership with the Dome!”

This wasn’t just any project.

If they landed this, Starlight Corporation would have a national-level contract. They’d have the next few years’ profits locked in.

Juan forced himself to stay calm and went to greet the visitors personally.

“Hello, I’m Juan Carter, CEO of Starlight Corporation. Please, have a seat.”

But the engineer in the dark jacket didn’t even sit down. He got straight to the point.

“Mr. Carter, we don’t have much time. I’ll only meet with the Dome’s founder, Miss Lincoln.”

His eyes were sharp, his tone all business and authority—totally uncompromising.

Juan’s professional smile froze.

He felt a hot surge of anger and almost lost it right then.

He turned to his assistant. “Go. Get Emmy on the phone. Tell her to get here, now.”

This was a golden opportunity, the kind companies would kill for. There was no way he’d let it slip away.
