Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 255

Hate.

The word hit Dean like a shard of ice, sharp and poisonous, sinking deep into his chest and leaving him pale as a ghost.

Emmy stared at him, unflinching.

In her past life, she’d spent seven years obsessed with having his child. The idea had become so warped, it was almost sick. Every day she hoped. Every time, she was let down. That kind of disappointment seeps into your bones, and over the years, it had quietly eaten away at all the love she’d ever had for him.

She couldn’t even remember when she stopped loving Dean. Somewhere along the way, all she cared about was getting pregnant. Love? She couldn’t recall what that felt like anymore.

So, when she found that photo—the proof that he’d moved on—it barely hurt. It just made sense. That’s why, after coming back to life with another chance, she could finally pull herself out of that rotten relationship without looking back.

The warning signs had always been there.

Even now, seeing Dean’s face twisted in pain, Emmy just felt a cold, almost peaceful clarity.

Dean shook his head, voice cracking with disbelief. “You hate me? How could you… hate me?”

She took advantage of his shock, yanking her hand free from his grip. Emmy stepped back, looking at him like he was a total stranger.

“Isn’t it obvious? I can’t stand liars. The first time you lied to me, you should’ve known I’d end up hating you.”

Dean’s eyes went red. He shouted, “I lied to you because your mom killed my mom!”

“Enough! I told you—my mom didn’t do it!” Emmy snapped, her voice full of icy disgust.

She was done. No more arguing. She turned to leave.

But after a couple of steps, she paused and looked back. “Dean, I was heartbroken when Sally died. She and my mother were best friends. That’s why I’ll never let anyone blame my mom for something she didn’t do.”

“In a week, Letters from the Other Side goes live. Maybe you’ll find your truth there. And if you learn my mother had nothing to do with what happened to yours, I expect you to apologize to her. For real.”

She turned and walked away.

Dean’s voice followed her, cold and sure. “That game’s going to tank. It’ll ruin Mr. Nelson for good. The minute it launches, he’s finished. You should cut ties with him now before you get caught in the fallout.”

Emmy froze.
