Emmy’s suspicions were right.
She stared at her laptop, frowning. Out of nowhere, a bunch of pixelated male avatars had popped up on her screen, completely ignoring the storyline she’d carefully set. Same problem as always.
Just as she was about to deal with them, she noticed the man next to her turning his head, his gaze drifting toward her monitor. Without missing a beat, she hit delete, erasing the avatars instantly.
But her curiosity got the better of her, and she glanced at his screen. He was even faster, tilting his monitor away so she couldn’t see much.
Still, Emmy managed to catch a glimpse of the corner. There were plenty of female avatars on his screen too.
She blinked, caught off guard. Was Mr. Nelson daydreaming about his wife in-game or what?
Before she could spiral any further, a soft voice floated in from the doorway.
“Jamie, there you are.”
James’s face darkened as he quickly closed the game window and pulled up some code instead. He shot a look at the door, his expression stormy.
“Ms. Summer…” His assistant rushed after Isabel, clearly flustered and sweating. “The restroom’s down the hall on the right. You went the wrong way…”
Isabel ignored the comment and walked right in, her eyes flicking between James and Emmy. “Are you two already playing without me? It looks like fun. Can I join?”
Emmy glanced at James. He’d already turned away, his long fingers flying over the keyboard, his profile all sharp lines and unreadable calm.
Emmy arched a brow. Well, it made sense—they were secretly married, after all. With her sitting here, they probably didn’t want to act too close.
