Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 379

Cooper had been married to Teresa for over twenty years, and he’d always known she was beautiful. But it wasn’t the kind of beauty that faded. If anything, time only made her more captivating, like wine that gets richer and more complex as it ages.

So why had he become obsessed with Claudia? The truth was almost embarrassing—Teresa was just too perfect. Her beauty ran deep, impossible to reach and impossible to match, and it made him feel like he’d never measure up. No matter how greedy or ambitious he was, he could never show Teresa the worst parts of himself.

Instead, he dumped all his weakness and desire onto Claudia, convincing himself it was what he wanted.

Now, after nearly two months apart, seeing Teresa again threw him into a panic that quickly twisted into something crazier—nervous excitement and a desperate kind of hope. He jerked up, trying to get free, and shouted as loud as he could.

“Teresa! Teresa! I was wrong!”

“Please, forgive me! Drop the charges! We can—we can still make this work, just live a normal life again!”

He tried to stand, but the bailiff beside him slammed him back into his seat.

“Quiet!” the bailiff snapped, cold and sharp.

Teresa didn’t even flinch. She glanced over, her eyes distant, as if he was nothing more than a stranger passing by on the street. Without a word, she looked away, leaned on her cane, and walked toward the plaintiff’s table.

Suddenly, a kid broke free from the family section in the gallery and ran straight at Teresa, wild-eyed and yelling, “Die! If you die, my uncle will be fine!”

Before Teresa could react, a man shot out of the crowd and stepped in front of her. The boy crashed into him and bounced off, landing hard on the floor and bursting into loud sobs.

The bailiff rushed over, picked the kid up by the arm, and barked, “Who does this kid belong to?”

The room went completely silent. No one dared say a word.

“Rotten at this age,” the bailiff muttered, frowning. “Take him out. He’s going to juvie.”

Teresa stared at the man’s back, her heart pounding. He didn’t look at her, just bowed his head and quickly slipped back to his seat.

She pressed her lips together, took a couple steps forward, and quietly said, “Thank you.”

Only then did she move on.
