Maybe it had just been too long since they’d really had fun, because James finished way faster than either of them expected.
For once, Emmy was still clear-headed. She lay sprawled on the bed, watching James get up to clean himself off, biting her lip to keep from laughing.
James caught her in the corner of his eye. His ears turned pink, but he tried to sound tough.
“What’s so funny?”
He came back to the bed, leaning down and pinching her chin.
“Just wait till we move into the new place. Then we’ll see who’s laughing.”
Emmy raised her hands in surrender, grinning. “Okay, okay, I give up! I wasn’t laughing at you, really—this is totally normal!”
James froze for a second, then narrowed his eyes, giving her a look that sent a little chill down her spine.
“Normal, huh?”
He leaned in even closer, their noses almost touching.
“And how would you know what’s normal?”
A flicker of panic flashed in Emmy’s eyes.
“Hm?” James dragged out the sound, his gaze sharp and teasing. “Emmy, are you saying you have more experience than me?”
“I just saw it online, okay?” Emmy mumbled, looking away. “There are, like, those videos that explain stuff. They say guys can get a little… overexcited sometimes. Don’t make it weird!”
She shoved him away, grabbed the nearest clothes, and pulled them on in a hurry.
“I’m making breakfast!”
Before he could say anything else, she rushed out of the bedroom.
James watched her escape, his brows drawn together, a strange annoyance settling in his chest.
Right then, there was a knock at the door.
James didn’t even bother getting dressed. He just walked out in nothing but black boxers.
At the same time, Emmy opened the bedroom door.
Danny was standing there. He glanced up and instantly spotted his boss—and behind him, an insanely good-looking guy in nothing but boxers.
Danny immediately realized he’d walked in at the absolute worst time.
He scratched his head, eyes darting everywhere except at James. “Um… Ms. Lincoln, maybe I should wait outside?”
